Wondering aloud: What do Repubs think of this Cheney quote?
Edited on Mon Jul-30-07 10:30 AM by FredStembottom
Most of all Cheney seems to ignore public opinion as he seeks to remake the US way of doing business at home and abroad. As he told Fox News last month: "We didn't get elected to be popular. We didn't get elected to worry about the fate of the Republican Party." (boldings mine - Fred)

Holy Cow! Are they OK with this? Clearly, Cheney has left the team (in addition to the Executive Branch). He now thinks of himself as Post-Republican!:wow:

1. I've said and maintain that the Bush Administration could give a..
rat's ass about the Republican party or the Religious right, they just used them to get elected... It's time the Republican's faced this fact and stood up for the country, not the Bush Admin...

4. I never felt certain of what you say.....
....I always debated with myself on the ideology vs. mere opportunism thing. I thought that they just might be as Dominionist Christian kooky as so many of their supporters.

But, points to you, what you have been saying is quite clear now. Cheney doesn't even feel he needs to pretend Repub/Religious anymore.

They are just pure con-men.

3. he's right about not getting elected
for sure in 2000, and 2004 looks more and more dubious, much like a race of desperation, win in 2004 at any cost, and then everything will work itself out. Still waiting for that to happen. They have simply prolonged an inevitable collapse in conservative ideology whose intersecting lies have built a foundation of sand for the movement.

7. It tells me they don't plan on leaving in Jan 09. And on the other hand, our
Democratic public servants appear all too willing to ignore thier constitutional duties in favor of the hope of sweeping into power in the 08 elections.

My guess is chaney is far more realistic than the "to afraid to impeach" Dems.
