Obama has Joe Lieberman as a mentor.
Now that I've got your attention;

How about instead of these snide attacks via association we could go to debating the differences between Obama and Clinton? Or any of the candidates for that matter?

Now I know that may be difficult on the recent flap since both can't seem to make up their minds about preconditions for head of state meetings. But surely there are others.

17. Your implication is misleading
In fact, one of the sites that show up in your google search provide an interesting revelation about Bill Clinton's role in Lieberman's reelection.

Clinton endorsed Lieberman in the primary. In fact, her husband's campaigning for Lieberman (a psychologist could have a field day with the motivation for Bill Clinton doing that) probably kept Lieberman from losing by such a large amount that he would have had to drop out of the race.

Obama also endorsed Lieberman in the primary. Lieberman was Obama's "mentor" in the Senate but it's worth noting that Obama didn't choose Lieberman as a "mentor".

If you had merely wanted to discuss policy differences, you wouldn't have indicted Obama in your thread title. Nice try, though. :hi:

2. I'm an Obama supporter and I thought that was pretty funny.
I'm not going to fall into your trap of debating policy differences, but I do like the thread title.

4. It's true
Lieberman is a mentor of Obama in the Senate. And he has another mentor too, Durbin.

I was reading a debate about this on Daily KOS, where the one side was saying Obama didn't get to choose his mentor, and the other side said Obama had to agree to his mentors.

Personally I think it isn't important, but although shocking maybe to some people, evidently it is true.

7. I also do not think its important.
And if anyone was actually considering Obama and then stopped considering Liebermann because someone told them his mentor was Lieberman, I consider that person to either be uninformed therefore looking for the endorsement method of picking a suitable candidate or just plain stupid to ignore Obama's record in favor of a scary word.

10. LOL. You punk'd me.
I saw the headline and was shocked to see the author. I thought "oh great.....we've lost another good rational poster to the annoying group of children who insist on playing here."

Ha ha.

Lately I've been interested in discussing Edwards. But that's not easy to do around here unless you want to talk about how great you think he is. If you don't care for his record you might as well just shut up about it because his attack dogs start nipping at your ankles and they don't quit.

I am also interested in discussing Biden. I don't know much about him. My initial assessment of him was negative due to a couple of questionable votes on women's rights and something else that I can't even remember now. I know so little about him. But there's something telling me that it's possible he might come more to the forefront in the coming months, move up a tier, or even 2 tiers.

Edited on Mon Jul-30-07 08:58 PM by draft_mario_cuomo
"Merit pay" for teachers seems to be it. We can't discuss health care because HRC has not presented her plan yet, although HRC's aides have said her plan will be universal, unlike Obama's.
