It would be awesome if someone can post it. It sounds pretty interesting.

OP-ED COLUMNIST

By DAVID BROOKS
Published: July 31, 2007

John Edwards and Barack Obama agree on a lot, but on poverty they emphasize different things.

8. Distortions to create phony distinctions???
I'm sure Edwards has more of a plan than forcing people to move to some other area of the country. Just like I know Obama has more of a plan than replicating the Harlem Children's Zone. In fact, that is only one aspect of his Urban Poverty plan, there's four more comprehensive projects. Number 5 dealing with housing. Must have been a slow day for Brooks.

"Fifth, Affordable Housing Trust Fund that would add as many as 112,000 new affordable units in mixed income neighborhoods. We’ll also do more to protect homeowners from mortgage fraud and subprime lending by passing my plan to provide counseling to tenants, homeowners, and other consumers so they get the advice and guidance they need before buying a house and support if they get in to trouble down the road. And we will crack down on mortgage professionals found guilty of fraud by increasing enforcement and creating new criminal penalties.."

11. So right-winger David Brooks supports Obama on this...
Edited on Tue Jul-31-07 01:21 AM by draft_mario_cuomo
When Republicans support HRC we are told by Team Obama that it shows that she is Republican-lite... ;)

12. I don't see Edwards and Obama attacking each other over their poverty initiatives.
Edited on Tue Jul-31-07 01:23 AM by TeamJordan23
It is good to see that both are doing something. I think there differences are not comparable to the Obama/Clinton differences on foreign policy.

Now the question is, what will your girl Hillary say/do about poverty?

13. I find the irony amusing. If Brooks agreed with Hillary you guys would be saying she is "GOP-lite"
This shows the absurdity of the "Hillary is Bush-lite" meme more than it says anything about Obama's position. I am glad Obama spoke out on poverty this month.

==I think there differences are not comparable to the Obama/Clinton differences on foreign policy.==

What differences are there on foreign policy between Hillary and Hillary-lite?

Good question. I hope Hillary also jumps on the bandwagon.

14. Before you start huffing and puffing, who is promoting Brook's article for Pro-Obama threads?
Edited on Tue Jul-31-07 01:37 AM by TeamJordan23
Whereas HRC supporters were using right wing columnists to promote pro-HRC threads. Do you see anyone talking about why Obama's plan is better b/c Brooks wrote this piece? No you don't - so calm down.
