Obama slams Bush: "Bush is creating a second gilded age..."
That Barack guy sure has a way with words. ;)

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama accused the Bush administration Monday of pandering to the wealthy, creating what he called "a second gilded age" that ignores working families.

Obama also vowed to push for ethics reforms and touted financial disclosure measures he pushed in Congress and as a member of the Illinois Legislature, calling them a starting point for change in Washington.

In a speech at a school named for Theodore Roosevelt, Obama cited the former president in calling for ethical changes. He said he would ban aides who work in his administration from dealing with issues involving former employers, and from lobbying for two years after they leave the administration.

Obama said he chose Roosevelt as an example because he took office at a time when wealth was concentrated in a very few hands and because he earned his reputation by going against the rich.

"It was an era known as the gilded age," said Obama. "Theodore Roosevelt decided not to play along."

1. I really like Obama but
Is creating? Seriously this has been the case since St. Ronnie was in office. This IS the age of the Robber Baron since The Esteemed Mr. Reagan fired the Air Traffic Controllers and really started the big push to screw as many of the working class as possible. We had a bit of a break during the late 1990's, but it's been stagnate wages for almost 30 years. I feel that Barack's words are poorly chosen on this one.

2. If we ARE LUCKY, the Bushies are ONLY creating a SECOND GUILDED AGE
But I think they ultimately are interested in much more than that. They are intreested in first bringing America to a pre-1929 state, which they have completed in many areas. Next, it's back to the 1890s (given uneven progress, they have already achieved a fair amount of this agenda) and then the 1490s, although that will take awhile, some of THAT (such as the dumbing down of America, the putting into harness the ignorance and superstitions of the "Witch Burning" class of people using Goebbels and Bernays-style propaganda.

3. Yes. And now he needs to go into a grisly chronology detailing the process. nt
