If a 'Mount Shamemore' was built - what 4 republicans should have their face on it
Mount Shamemore would be built on a ranch in Crawford Texas and filled with Sewage Waste from failed environmental policies.

What 4 republican faces should be on the carving. For this exercise you do not necessarily need to select presidents nor must they currently be in office.

But they do have to be republicans

2. I think that the current quartet of Bush, Cheney, Rove and Condi
have done more damage and brought more shame to this country, more death to this world (based on a lie they started) than any other 4 (or 8) combined.

Those are my choices.

For lying us into the illegal invasion and occupation of the sovereign country of Iraq, and for all that have died -- on both sides -- because of it.

5. Only four?
I mean, you could go contemporary and just do the last four — Nixon, Reagan, Bush I and Bush II — and have a pretty shameful mountain face.

Or, you could take a long view and include folks like Herbert Hoover, who egged on the Great Depression with his asinine economic Policy. Or maybe even U.S. Grant, who, despite his undeniable greatness as a military leader (one could also say "ruthlessness," but that's not necessarily a bad thing to have in a Civil War general), proved to be one of the crookedest -- or at least most ineffectual -- presidents in history.

And there's plenty more! Sweet Jesus, has their really eve been a decent Republican president since the first one?

7. I suggest something high tech and adaptable.
Some sort of holograms projected on a monolith that can be changed as Republicans find new and more incredible ways to sink deeper into the morass.

One could also imagine themes for each season or month:
  • Liars
  • Thieves
  • Chickenhawks
  • Perverts
  • Drug addicts
  • Amoral bastards
  • Evil geniuses
  • Hypocrites Hall of Fame

The list is so long, that a monument like Rushmore simply won't do.

with his name engraved on a plaque about it, for those who intend to piss all over the AMerican people right out where everyone can see them.

There would be free toilet paper provided with the Constitution printed on it for when they are done.

21. Only 4? How to narrow it down?!?
George W. Bush
Dick Cheney
Ronald Reagan

I'm not having any trouble with the first 3, but there is so much competition for the 4th!

Pick one:

Rove
Arnold
Paige
Gonzalez
W.J. "Pete" Knight

I could go on forever. Somebody else can pick my 4th.

He may have been a Dem at an earlier time; but as a senator, he was a Republican throughout his career.

And yes, he should be on the shame list. Evil destructive man.

51. Where did you get that information?
Joe McCarthy was a Democrat? That's news to me.

You might want to contact the scores the sources I've used about McCarthy since I was in junior high and suggest they correct their information, since they all say otherwise.

27. There's just some EXCELLENT suggestions in this thread already.
And the thread itself is a great idea, and great fun.

I'll go with Harding, Benjamin Harrison, Dick Nixon, and Ronald Reagan. There's 4 really lousy Republicans right there.

In the museum store below the sculpture, there could be a statue of an organ grinder (Cheney) and his little monkey (Dubya) -- done in scrap metal from a slag heap someplace.

Lee Greenwood and Toby Keith on the piped-in soundtrack.

34. I'd make them all Presidents...
Edited on Wed Aug-01-07 01:54 AM by jackbourassa
The theme would be: The biggest twats to run our country...

1. George W. Bush (obviously)

2. Richard Nixon

3. Herbert Hoover

4. John Quincy Adams (not technically a Republican - was a Whig, the precursors to modern Republicans - but I say, "fuck dynasties.")

Other notable mentions...

Warren Harding...this guy was as dumb and corrupt as George W. Bush, but fortunately he died after less than two years in office. If we could only have been so lucky.

Ulyses S. Grant...sure he was a good General (well if you call rape and pillaging good generalship), but he was one TERRIBLE FUCKING PRESIDENT. He was not only stupid, like Harding and W he was corrupt as well.

What is it about Republican Presidents that make them so stupid and/or corrupt? When was the last time the Republicans elected someone who wasn't one or the other?

Theodore Roosevelt?

Abraham Lincoln?

Are there only two good Republican Presidents out of the whole dirty bunch?
