I had imagined that we had a cadre of sedated reporters who could not think through these things themselves. Like the bushies, they just found contacts who gave them opinions to reinforce what they already thought.

I know that there have been books written about the better way to manage our disaster with militant Islam. Those writers would get articles in Salon.com, or maybe in Vanity Fair or some other print media and then the ideas would just die in the public realm. It looks like somebody has been reading the books. Obama and/or his national security advisers.

13. Spectacular speech (Recommended)

I just saw it. As my good friends in the Obama camp know, I am not Obama's biggest fan (although I do like him--I just don't like him as much as JE, HRC, Biden, Richardson, Kucinich, and maybe even Dodd) but I was impressed with the speech. He came across as "presidential", inspiring, and ready to lead. For the life of me I cannot figure out where the Obama who delivers great speeches disappears during a debate setting? In light seeing the speech, I regret my earlier hyperventilating about his statement. I still think he is wrong on this*--Richardson is right--but Obama is fundamentally on the right track when it comes to the war on terror.

*Yes, that means Edwards is too. As if Edwards being wrong somehow makes Obama right. :wtf:
