POLL: Hillary tied with Ghouliani and Thompson
Senator Hillary Clinton is pulling away from the field in the race for the Democratic Presidential nomination but remains weaker than other major Democratic contenders in match-ups with top Republicans.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone shows former Big Apple Mayor Rudy Giuliani with a statistically insignificant one-point lead over the former First Lady, 46% to 45%. Former U.S. Senator Fred Thompson posts exactly the same numbers when matched against Clinton. It’s Thompson 46% Clinton 45%.

2. So our "front-runner", the team of Senator Inevitable and her former-POTUS hubby
can only now manage to TIE the horrendous Giuliani, and as-yet-to-announce Manly-man Thompson???

The Republican candidates are the worst bunch of soul-less, incompetent, lying HACKS ever assembled by one Party, and our INEVITABLE FRONT-RUNNER can only manage a TIE with their top two??? And we post it like it's a good thing?

Poses the question: Who the hell do we have to run against these losers to actually WIN? Evidently none of the ones we have running now.

Jeezuss.

6. POLL: Hillary Clinton leads Giuliani by 6; Obama leads Giuliani by 5
From latest NBC/WSJ poll.

<edit>

Both top Democratic presidential candidates, Sens. Hillary Clinton of New York and Barack Obama of Illinois, lead Republican front-runner Rudy Giuliani in a prospective November 2008 matchup by six and five percentage points, respectively. Mr. Giuliani has strengthened his position in the Republican nomination race; the former New York mayor leads with 33%, up from 29% in June, compared with former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson's 20%, which is unchanged.

7. Media Matters: Vast majority of polls show Clinton beating Giuliani
Edited on Thu Aug-02-07 09:57 AM by Karmadillo
I don't know why people like Russert insist on cherry-picking polls. It seems inappropriate to mislead the American people.

Russert still cherry-picking polls to claim Giuliani beating Clinton

<edit>

In addition, as Bob Somerby noted on his website The Daily Howler, during the July 29 edition of NBC's Meet the Press, Russert cited two polls that showed respondents would be more likely to vote for a Democrat than a Republican in the 2008 presidential election and went on to claim that in head-to-head matchups, Giuliani, "in both polls, beats" Clinton. On the same show, responding to Russert, NBC News political director Chuck Todd claimed "I think that having a problem of electability." In fact, as Somerby noted, "those are the only two polls in the past seven weeks where Giuliani has beaten Clinton." From Somerby's July 30 post:

What was surprising about that presentation? According to PollingReport.com, those are the only two polls in the past seven weeks where Giuliani has beaten Clinton. (For polling results, click here.) But uh-oh! In ten other polls (including the most recent), Clinton has beaten Giuliani! That's right: In head-to-head match-ups, Clinton has beaten Giuliani in ten of the last twelve polls, including the most recent (basic data below). But so what? Russert cherry-picked the two polls Clinton lost -- and Todd chimed in with the pleasing claim that she's having electability problems.

11. And here's the thing: Obama does better than Hillary CONSISTENTLY
in head-to-head matchups with Repubs, and yet I don't have the urge to crow about it or pile on about why she's a weak candidate for whatever reason--I just wish she could do better, because I want to see her, Obama, or WHOEVER we nominate, win against the Neanderthal losers. But rest assured that if Obama was down in the polls, the Hillary and Edwards supporters would be out IN DROVES screaming "not ready! he's inexperienced! wet behind the ears!" blah blah blah--taking any opportunity to kick him. Witness the odd triumph in the thread about Obama's negatives increasing (which is bound to happen as people know him--nobody is universally beloved forever). Fucking insane to cheer about bad news on ANY of our candidates.
