To me - endorsements don't mean SHIT... |
|
Edited on Thu Aug-02-07 01:04 PM by HawkeyeX
We, the people, have the right to decide who our next president would be.
Who agrees?
(I'm referring to the latest endorsement from Ms. Baldwin - who I have respect for)

1. doesn't impact me, either. neither do the polls. I'm planning to vote for |
|
a candidate in the primary if that candidate is still around. If not, I'm voting for Kucinich.
If you-know-who gets the nomination, I'm writing in someone. You-know-who will never carry this state.

2. I'm with ya to a point, but |
|
if I saw General Clark on stage with a Presidential candidate raising his/her hand high above and announcing that he was endorsing so and so, it would cause me to pause and reflect deeply. Conversely I look forward to a goper getting an endorsement from grover norquist, it really helps whittle the list down. (Not that I would ever again vote for a republican, I haven't since Ford in 76.)

3. BFD-- it's all part of the game and it's not for you anyway... |
|
don't flatter yourself thinking that they are trying to impress you.
It's about who can deliver votes and then payback time when the election is over.

4. I'm with you. Anyone influenced by endorsements doesn't know the pay-offs and sweet whisper |

promises that are often part of "the deal." It's disingenuous to say the least and I hope all these people who come out early endorsing especially HRC for perhaps, a place on the cabinet, are sorely disappointed by someone else (Obama or Edwards) winning the Democratic Nomination.

5. I think Gore and Feingold are independent enough that their endorsements are meaningful. |

Other than those two, I really don't care.

6. here's what Baldwin's endorsement means |
|
it means that a progressive can vote for Hillary.
There is an idea out there that Hillary and progressivism are totally uncompatible.

7. They only mean something if you belong to the endorsing group. |
|
For example, if you belong to the UAW, you probably do care who the UAW endorses and why.

8. Endorsements are double-edged. |
|
If someone you like makes an endorsement of someone you have a problem with, it will inevitably shake your confidence in the endorser.
As I understand it, Ms Baldwin supports universal health care. But she now endorses someone who wants to keep health care in the hands of the insurance companies. That would be a problem.
But as I never heard of Baldwin before today, it's nada to me.
