This should teach Mitt Romney to do some homework before shooting off his mouth.

Kerry's "Duke Cunningham Act" Included in Sweeping Legislation

The law makes good on a promise Democrats made when they regained the majority in the House and Senate, which was to force much-needed reforms in the way Congress operates. The new law cracks down on lobbyist gifts, requires greater transparency for earmarks, and provides a bigger speed bump for the revolving door between the Capitol and K Street. In addition, Kerry’s “Duke Cunningham Act” passed as part of the bill – a provision which cancels taxpayer-funded pension benefits to Members of Congress convicted of serious ethics offenses, such as bribery or conspiracy.

"Romney: End pensions for ethical lapses"

Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney, decrying ethical lapses in Washington and singling out fellow Republicans, on Thursday called for stripping the federal pensions from those convicted of using their office to abuse the public trust.

Campaigning in Iowa, the former Massachusetts governor said his proposal wasn't aimed at a specific individual but rather was a response to the deteriorating ethical climate in the nation's capital.

"Frankly, I'm particularly disappointed in our own," Romney said. "Maybe you expect it of Democrats. You shouldn't, I'm just kidding a little bit. I certainly don't expect it of Republicans."

2. Romney really does sound dumber than a box of rocks from everything
I've read. Whatever he says, if it's not acceptable, he just changes it. And obviously not much research is done or smarts involved. What kind of 'crack' team does he have?

3. You know he had to know Kerry did this
He was in Massachusetts when Kerry proposed it in 2006. Given the fun Kerry had naming it after a Republican, Romney had to know about it.

6. John Kerry may be the man he wishes he were
Kerry was a war hero, a foreign policy and national security expert, policies and stratigies and he has a working heart and conscience. He also has better hair. (Besides, John Lennon wouldn't have tolerated Mitt around him for more than a second.)

8. Mitt is just too dumb to be President
Just like Bush is too dumb :(

...and Gonzo is too stupid to be AG :(

...and Cheney is as evil as Satan and could not be VP...

the world is upside-down - I think the new evil and stupid are "good and clever" :(

9. I just can't get mad at twits like Mitt
Edited on Fri Aug-03-07 12:16 AM by provis99
He's on the level of Dan Quayle, a photogenic fool. If he were less brain-dead, I might get madder, because he would seem more malevolent. As an example, "President" Cheney is smart; that makes him malevolent, which pisses me off. Fools like Romney or Tancredo just don't bug me the way that smarter candidates like Giuliani do.

It will be so nice having the two great Senators from his state on our side.
