In addition, Kerry’s “Duke Cunningham Act” passed as part of the bill – a provision which cancels taxpayer-funded pension benefits to Members of Congress convicted of serious ethics offenses, such as bribery or conspiracy.

"Romney: End pensions for ethical lapses"


Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney, decrying ethical lapses in Washington and singling out fellow Republicans, on Thursday called for stripping the federal pensions from those convicted of using their office to abuse the public trust.


Campaigning in Iowa, the former Massachusetts governor said his proposal wasn't aimed at a specific individual but rather was a response to the deteriorating ethical climate in the nation's capital.

"Frankly, I'm particularly disappointed in our own," Romney said. "Maybe you expect it of Democrats. You shouldn't, I'm just kidding a little bit. I certainly don't expect it of Republicans."

9. I just can't get mad at twits like Mitt

He's on the level of Dan Quayle, a photogenic fool. If he were less brain-dead, I might get madder, because he would seem more malevolent. As an example, "President" Cheney is smart; that makes him malevolent, which pisses me off. Fools like Romney or Tancredo just don't bug me the way that smarter candidates like Giuliani do.
