Poll: Three Democrats Tied in Iowa
http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/P/POLL_2008_IOWA?SITE=CATOR&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2007-08-03-11-29-43

THE NUMBERS

Barack Obama, 27 percent

Hillary Rodham Clinton, 26 percent

John Edwards, 26 percent

Bill Richardson, 11 percent

---

OF INTEREST:

Clinton leads in national polls but Edwards and Obama are running stronger in Iowa, where Edwards retains a strong organization from his 2004 candidacy and Obama is prized for his freshness. Iowa Democrats rated Clinton their most electable candidate, but not as likable as her chief rivals. A survey last month for Des Moines' KCCI-TV by Research 2000 showed Edwards with a slender lead over Clinton and Obama trailing both slightly, but it is unclear whether the change is due to technical polling differences or other factors.

---

The ABC News/Washington Post telephone poll of 500 Iowa adults considered likely to participate in their state's 2008 presidential caucuses was conducted from July 26 to 31. It has a sampling error margin of plus or minus 4.5 percentage points.

1. This is for the best. Why let the media choose our candidate?
The later the front runner is selected, the better in my opinion. The more states involved in the mix, the better.

2. Perhaps
but...the primary calendar is so front laoded that with ane effcive tie in Iowa. no oneis going to have that percived momentum going into Tsuanmi Tueday. That likely means that on one is goingt o to have the delegate to winthe noimination outright...meaning a brokered convention and deep diviisions that will have to be repaired wuickly because the convention is just before laborday and we are going to have to come together quickly.

Great Drama on the one side Great meoldrama on the other..... We shall see...

4. Wow, an old style brokered convention! Haven't seen one of them in a long time!
I remember the black and white "gavel to gavel" convention coverage by the networks. Then you'd have to wait til after the election to get your hands on a book that reveals all the back room stuff, like Teddy White's series on the Making of the President. Just read 3 of them, 1960, 1968 and 1972. It was actually very exciting...

3. You are right. It makes sense, because the larger the numbers,
the smaller is the Margin of Error. However, I will wait for some national polls of all voters, not just Dems.
