C-Span 1, anyone else listening to Brian Lamb right now?
I think he's had enough. I know where the caller is coming from but Brian has a point- his job is to be impartial. I think Brian hates the shit that's going on right now as much as most of us- and he's a bit upset he can't show it as part of his job.

Anyway, interesting.

1. I've heard the same complaint as the caller is making on DU - I

think the issue of their employees sending signals that they lean Republican is separate from what the caller is saying - no way should the C-Span crew start being Dan Abrams or Geraldo or even Matt Lauer.

They only have to announce their policy more often - perhaps each morning - they can make their claim that they try to balance the guests and give voice to the callers, not opinions - that they are not commentators, they are question askers only.

Why get all upset the way he does so often on Fridays - just make the announcement each morning no matter who the host is

I felt quite defensive of C-Span this morning..

3. Well he LOVES Randi Rhodes -
So that should tell you something.
Maybe he just admires someone who comes from the left with the same ferocity as the right.

5. Sounds Good To Me!! I Know They Are Instructed NOT To Take
sides, but they can ask questions! I've been watching The Journal for almost 25 years and need my "fix" just to find out what others around the country are saying.

The only place you hear "real" people for the most part! There are some who break the rules a lot, and I've only ever gotten through one time in my life!!!

6. Corporates control C-span and it doesn't matter what Brian's political phisophy may be . . .
he wants to keep C-span on the air -- he has three TV stations now -- and they are under attack by cable companies not wanting to provide the time. . . .
and have been under long-time attack by the GOP which has been in power for more than a decade.

It's a threat to not all "free speech" to any thread of "free press" that is left --

and to C-span.

Brian wants C-span --

4. I can usually read people pretty well
and I think Lamb is mostly a centrist, I think when C-SPAN first started, he was a bit center-right(probably a Reagan fan), but over the last ten years of republican B.S. he has moved more to the center-center-left.

While no one on C-SPAN is hardcore either way( I honestly don't think you can hide your views that well)here's what I see:

Pedro -leans left
Steve -leans right
Susan -center all the way (she's too busy fiending off horny viewers to show much bias anyway, lol)
the older redhead -definately leans right

I can't think of the few others names offhand, but anyway I think they play it down the middle as much as possible. As the original poster said, their job is to be impartial, and I think they do it well.
