An Important Notice for RFK Jr. Supporters
As Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s supporters are probably already aware, there are at least three internet web sites promoting the grassroots movement to draft him into the 2008 race for the White House.

I want to point out that our website is not affiliated in any way with the MySpace page, or with any other individual or group trying to Draft RFK Jr. We are separate entities, independent of one another. We are not in the employ of Mr. Kennedy, we do not speak for him.

Our job, as we see it, is to provide news and information about RFK Jr. to interested voters and hopefully convince them to support RFK Jr. by signing the draft petition.

Although all three Draft RFK Jr. web sites work towards the same goal, recent information/evidence has come to light which makes it necessary at this point for me to distance our web site from the one on MySpace.

This unfortunate situation was brought to my attention by one of our readers and is posted in the blog's comments section, along with the result of our own follow-up contacts with the MySpace site owner.

Just wanted all here at DU to know, especially if you have ever had any negative/rude/justplainweird interactions with the RFK Jr. MySpace page owner who has an online handle similar to ours, please know that it is NOT US!

It would be easy to get us confused going by usernames/email addresses, so just wanted to clear this up. If the email you receive does not have the return address of RFKin2008@cs.com, it is not from us!

We're nice folks `round here, Texas friendly. So don't be shy if you want to drop us a line and say howdy. We'd love to hear from you!:)

1. If you are as fed up with this Party's capitulation and collusion as I am,
having RFK, Jr., in the race will be the answer to a prayer. He hates corruption, and calls it when he sees it... even if he sees it in his own Party.

Please consider signing the petition. Every signature not only gives him a message that he is needed and wanted in this race, but also gives him a signal to keep calling out the administration and ALL who aid and abet them, no matter the Party.

Our country needs him. Our Party needs him. WE need him!

TC

3. My thoughts exactly, TC!
This is a time when we should all come together to show RFK Jr. our support.

We need to let him know that he is wanted and welcome in this race!

2. The elbowing of various sites is less interesting to me than RFK JR. himself.
I'd like to see him in as prominent a role as possible in American public life.

It goes without saying that I thought his father was one of the most remarkable souls to ever serve our country, but I'm saying it anyway because the mantra refocuses the notion of heightened public service.

I don't know if there's room in the already-crowded field for RFK Jr., Clark, Al Gore, Gary Hart, and so forth. But they are very good souls and any one of them is a natural, inspired leader.

5. His father would be so proud of him now!
Agreed, Old Crusoe. RFK Jr.'s message is what's most important, not the people behind the scenes who are trying to coax him into the race.

We encourage every potential supporter of RFK Jr.'s to check out all sources and be as informed as possible on who he is and where he stands!

15. I love him; he needs to keep fighting the good fight for the environment.
We tend to forget that the environment is much more important than this presidential race. Gore and RFK, Jr. are front and center in the fight. Maybe he could join the cabinet as Sec, of the Interior and run in 2016 for pres. I worry though about any Kennedy running for president; there are so many fruitloops out there and so many evildoers. He is a great protector of the environment. I would NOT want anything to happen to him.

17. Bobby is currently taking the month off in the Pacific
*out there somewhere*

I suppose some tabloid will have someone somewhere who spots him,
but if he manages to keep his privacy, he deserves it for all the
work he does during the year.

I have to wonder just how many people out there talk to him on a regular
basis, and know a lot about his medical and personal past?

Quite aside from the fact that Bobby loves what he is doing now--and that
is about 5 separate things already--he already has many good reasons for
not being interested in running for national office. Maybe (with a capital
M) someone could interest him in a Senate seat from NY if Hillary leaves
for the White House, or possibly EPA head, but I just don't think so. Any
of these things would put him up for the scrutiny circus that national
candidates get, and it's a fair guess he wants no part of it. Let him continue
to do what he is doing. He does a great job of it, and as things stand, has
to answer to no one for stuff that would only serve as a distraction.

Bobby is doing a great job already. Don't try to drag him into something he
doesn't want. He'll get involved when and where he see fit, and when he does,
he will do so as he does everything else that he cares about--totally. But
I'd urge one and all to leave him alone with respect to dragging him out for
national office if he doesn't want it.

18. Hope he's having a wonderful vacation
Edited on Wed Aug-08-07 04:46 AM by RFKin2008
For all the amazing work he does, Bobby certainly has earned at least a month off to enjoy some r&r and time with his family.

I can't speak for others in the draft movement, but I have a great deal of sympathy for the fact that RFK Jr. has had to live his life under an intense amount of scrutiny and pressure from people who have been asking him to run for some elected office (even the highest) since he was old enough to get a driver's license.

But the number of people who are respectfully asking him to consider this now is growing, the voices are getting louder, and that's a fact.

The point of the draft movement is not to put any more pressure on Bobby than he is already no doubt feeling. Please understand that we do this with the utmost respect. The great burden we are asking him to shoulder is not something we take lightly.

If we saw a better choice amongst the presidential hopefuls, we would surely give them our vote. But the hour is getting late, and no one else in the field of candidates inspires in us the confidence and hope that RFK Jr. does.

This is a critical moment in America’s history, as we all know. We are now living in that “hour of maximum danger” that his Uncle Jack so often spoke of. We look to Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as the one man who is best qualified to carry on the work President Kennedy and his father started nearly half a century ago. We want to put him in the White House to fight the good fight on our behalf and lead us towards a better future. He's our last best hope.

This is honestly how his supporters who have signed the petition feel. They have chosen to express themselves by adding words of support, love and encouragement to their signatures. We will forward all of this to Mr. Kennedy and can only hope that he will consider what these good Americans have to say. They are only expressing their hopes.

Surely, he wouldn't hold that against his fellow countrymen and women. I can only hope that he would feel very honored that we have asked him to represent us, even if he does not get into the race.

Whatever he chooses, I think it is safe to say his admirers will continue to support him, as they always have.

(You'll notice I used the word "hope" 7 times above. This is by design.)

20. Medical and personal past?
Edited on Wed Aug-08-07 06:27 AM by RFKin2008
Not sure what you're referring to there. Unless there is more to the story than what we already know?

DFW writes:
" Any of these things would put him up for the scrutiny circus that national candidates get, and it's a fair guess he wants no part of it."

His life has been a pretty open book so far, he's been subjected to intense media scrutiny since the day he was born, so I can't imagine any new revelations coming to light that we haven't heard before.

I know of no personal or medical problems that would threaten to derail a potential candidacy if subjected to scrutiny. Nor do I know of any that would interfere with his ability to function effectively as President.

If DFW can correct me with supporting facts and documentation of these heretofore unknown medical/personal issues, he is welcome to contact me privately. Otherwise, I can only look at this as more grist for the rumor mill...

21. Not sure about this
I love the guy and he'd make a great Sec. of the Interior but I've heard he had some bad drug problems and his voice is strange. If he entered now he'd have to overcome Hillary/Obama/Edwards' fundraising.

...for getting in touch and sharing your thoughts with me privately.

I totally share your concerns, and worry about his family too. We all do. We are in total agreement on this.

Sure, his opponents will try to attack him on any number of issues, they will try to make mountains out of molehills...but isn't that what they do to everybody?

The MSM has nothing better to do - they have a 24-hour news cycle to fill, and the more sensational the drivel, the harder they try to force it down our throats. Wash, rinse, repeat...

But I still believe that Americans are smarter than that.

Besides, what candidate (or even President?) has squeaky clean laundry anymore? Will Americans only vote for a choirboy? A monk? A nun?

So far, we haven't had a monk president yet. Not that I'm against the idea of a holy man in the oval office...I just think we'd have a mighty tough time finding a candidate that "clean." Unless Christ decides to make his return to earth sometime later this year...

And if he did, just imagine the fun the MSM would have about that supposed love affair with Mary Magdalene. ;)
