Missouri: Clinton 40% (+10), Edwards 22% (+5), Obama 15% (-3) |
|
Another ARG poll. The previous poll was in January--before BO entered the race. I am surprised at Obama running third, losing ground (he is even lower than he was before he began running) in Missouri, given his regional advantage there. Also note Biden. He is up to 4th and has went from not registering to 5%. Perhaps Biden can make it to third in Missouri before the end of the year?
Clinton 40% (+10) Edwards 22% (+5) Obama 15% (-3) Biden 5% (+5) Richardson 4% (+2) Kucinich 1% (-1) Dodd 1% (+1)

1. There is a HUGE Obama group here in Kansas City |
|
He has far more active supporters here than any of the other candidates. I am sure of this as I am the political chair for an area progressive group and I attend political events a couple times a week. We have a debate watch party tonight and I guarantee you there will be a ton of Obama supporters there, a few from Edwards camp and NONE for Hillary.
Now this is only one city but it is significant because there have been many many elections in MO where Kansas City and St Louis voters determined the winner for the state.

3. The rest of the state, other than St Louis, is fairly rural |
|
Like I said, KC and St Louis have carried many elections. Generally, presidential candidates concentrate on the 2 big cities here and not much elsewhere in MO. Springfield is a big republican center. It's fundie central down there.

4. Either BO is losing badly in rural Missouri or not doing as well as you think in KC |
|
Let's face it. Activists support BO or JE at disproportionately high rates while HRC struggles. I don't think we can read much into what a group of activists is doing. Look at DU. HRC is behind Kucinich here but then look at the national polls. She is approaching 50% while Kucinich is at 1%.

5. I will ask the BO folks tonight if they have any polling info |
|
I wonder if they have even polled the rural areas. It's still so early.

You are right. It is early. The trend, though, in Missouri is bad for BO, great for HRC, and good for Edwards.

6. Edwards needs to visit Missouri and get his economic populist message out! |
|
I guarantee if he visited MO a little more and did that he might be able to overtake HRC. This state's economy is VERY bad, almost as bad as Michigan or Ohio.
