The only 2008 political bumper sticker I've seen in this very red part of the country was for Kucinich. Not even a sticker for former governor Huckabee-but Dennis has a fan (besides me) in NW Arkansas !

|
From NBC's Domenico Montanaro Clinton started with a pander line of being a Bears fan and invoking that her dad woulda been proud of his little girl on the 10-yard-line. She did something similar with her YearlyKos Cubs' line that she still has a "No lights at Wrigley Field" T-shirt.
Not to be out done, Obama welcomed the crowd to Chicago -- the "home of the NFC champion Bears."

From NBC's Chuck Todd Obama sort of dodged the first question and decided to focus solely on Iraq and whether we're safer now or not after 9/11. Interesting decision on his part; clearly he'd like to have a conversation about foreign policy tonight. The question was NOT designed to elicit a foreign policy answer.

|
From NBC's Chuck Todd SOLDIER FIELD -- Well, the weather cooperated (I think); Why, "I think"? Because it's still hot... but rain would have been a major downer... This certainly is a more unique debate than anything online. We're in a football stadium; if only Brent Musberger were doing the P.A. right now to announce that "YOU ARE LOOKIN' LIVE, At SOLDIER FIELD in Chicago..."
Anyway, expect this forum to turn into a debate.
BTW, it's hot, with a capital "H." Biden just now on stage asked, "Man, where are THOSE air conditioners..." The candidates will have cool air pumped on the stage. After all, they are going to be standing up there for more than 90 minutes.

41. From NBC's Chuck Todd |
|
From NBC's Chuck Todd Clinton is calling for a "broad reform" of NAFTA and other trade agreements. She did not say scrap it. As for the rest of the field: Richardson appeared to duck saying whether he'd do anything to reform or scrap NAFTA; Obama called for amending NAFTA by noting, BTW, that he'd call a couple of world leaders; Biden seems to want to amend it; Dodd wants modify it; Edwards says "fix it," minor surprise he didn't say "scrap it"? Edwards took a DIRECT shot at Clinton with the "Fortune" magazine shot. Kucinich is the only one to say scrap NAFTA.

on the health care question. but one thing I would disagree with him on is the copayment issue. That is needed for paperwork costs (Which will still need to be done under a single payer system)
The co-payment needed probably would be about 5-10 dollars.

Dodd's anger and Biden's ego are pissing me off, so I may be missing someting. I remain open to correction (I am Edwards then Obama and ABC) and will watch for the YouTubes (or MSNBC reruns) so that I can watch this again in all fairness.

the path way is to come here legally.
Heavily fine and go after with all fury to those companies that hire illegals.
Increase legal immigration, help them once they come here to learn English, the laws that protect them so they can be aware and not be exploited.

Whether you support one candidate or not, the debate's energy and fiery crowd is fantastic. A barnstormer...
Congrats to all the candidates!

84. I think Biden was the loser of this debate. |
|
Obama was the clear winner regarding setting his "rookie" charges and Edwards did well with the audience even though he kept going over-time and Kucinich gave some great answers, too.

86. Hillary stole Obama's answer about having to be as careful getting out of Iraq |
|
as we were careless getting in, and then stole Edwards' answer about how she'd have someone in the WH who she'd ask every day what was accomplished re: Katrina every day.

92. He sure DID! But of course, the MSM is spinning it as Hillary winning that debate |
|
but adding Obama did very well and won that CROWD, but not America. I totally disagree.

99. I liked Dodd the best |
|
due to his first answer.
Candidates can propose all the programs and fixes they want but we won't be able to afford them if we continue building the science-fiction-style-zap-anything-on-the-planet-in-an-instant military machine the military industrial complex has started. It will cost trillions. Dodd is the first one I've heard say anything about turning the project off.

105. I thought they all did well |
|
They all had good points. (Except Biden, who left a widow without an answer to get his two cents in.) I didn't think Obama looked his best tonight. His other performances were commanding, always getting the sharpest wit to out talk the others. Obama looked a little defensive. He still did well though.
