Joe Biden brags about giving reach-around across the aisle
I fucking hate Biden.

Thank you, Joe Biden, for reaching across the aisle to give us Roberts, Alito and Gonzales.

Heckuva job, Biden.

Enjoy your reach-around with the Republick Party.

He is up there to answer the questions of the people, not to spout off at the mouth simply because a camera was in view. Something Dear old Joe will never grasp...

The only potentially saving grace is that he did lose a spouse and child too, but he should have given that woman more respect and more time.

b/c he dismissed her so quickly so he could get a few comments in on a previous question. Should have stuck with her and on worker's safety and worker's rights.

Also, I think the booing rattled him and pretty much shot his composure for the evening.

Well, at least I've hated him since long before he ever said he would pretend to run for president.

Even if he wasn't in the debate at all, there would be a good chance I would have started an "I Hate Biden" thread just for the visceral satisfaction of it.

When a coal miner's widow asked him about enforcing OSHA-type enforcement and he blathered meaninglessly for a max of 5 seconds about "I wrote a bill, bla bla bla" and then changed the subject on her to rant on about Pakistan since his ego didn't get to field the original question.

Just one of the highlights from tonight

27. Biden did not have a good night
Not answering the widow's question was bad. One of the times where his desire to make a point (he really wanted to speak during the Obama/Dodd/Clinton mini-debate, but did not get a chance) got the better of him. He did what most of the others did at some point or another, namely use part of he time to answer a question he did not get a chance to answer earlier. But he did it in an awkward way and definitely with the wrong question. This being said, I find all the bashing wildly exaggerated. I think he was a good guy before tonight, and I continue to think so.

36. But do we have a choice?
I agree w/ you that Repubs are assholes but seriously- we all have to work together to make any changes. I just think that out of all the Dems who are running Biden would be the least likely to get stonewalled. He's already gotten in Bush's face and has called for Cheney's resignation and Rumsfeld's years ago. He will not be bullied. And he will be fair. You can work w/ the Rubs but hold firm against corruption. Biden's a bulldog. We need a guy like him. Tha't why I support him in the first place.

46. No, you don't have to "gotta protect your candidate."
It's just that sort of blind brand loyalty and "rooting for the t-shirt" that's partially responsible for getting our country into its current mess.

"Your" candidate is an evil douchebag.

You should be prepared to jettison him if and when it has been sufficiently proven to you.

When that point comes, is up to you.

Some people learn more slowly than others.

But nobody...

ever...

from ANY party...

... should EVER feel they have to defend "their" candidate, no matter WHAT he or she does.

You don't "gotta protect your candidate."

What you "gotta" do is critically examine your candidate-- each and every day-- and decide anew whether they are worthy of your support.

It is my hope, that eventually, you will come to the same conclusion about Biden that I have.

And then you'll owe me a pizza, because I told you so, from the beginning.

I may not have a lot of posts under my belt but that doesn't mean I can't evaluate people well. I may have been a little extreme in my comment on Biden but he doesn't have what it takes to be a good Congressman much less a President. Biden isn't alone. My representatives in Congress sometimes suck too - but they aren't running for President.

75. Joe Biden
I'll start with what I'll admit may be somewhat superficial: He has an ego that far exceeds his real competence. That immediately puts you off and causes you to start disregarding what he has to say. Even if this is superficial, it has a real negative effect and limits his ability to influence or lead others. In some of the important confirmation hearings, he hardly asked a question but just ran on like he only wants to hear himself talk. I was embarrassed to have him as representing the Democrats. I wished the bench would just gavel and end to his ramblings and announce "Next". Then after he had his turn, he got up and left the hearing. If he felt the hearing were not important, then he didn't deserve a seat in the hearings. Or was he just not prepared? Either way, it invokes no confidence in him.
Biden is not really a fighter. Oh, he may talk tough in the debates. But when it really counts, he surrenders before a battle has ever begun. He is not someone I would feel I could count on, ever. Where has he really made a difference in trying to reign in this administration? I think he has been more an enabler of the administration, a Republican lapdog actually.
I can't see him as a leader.
