Anyone who hangs around here knows that I support Biden, but what I want to know
is who stuck a pole up his behind tonite?

And would you please take it out now?

Yeah - I admit it. Biden was a bit on edge tonite.

But what I really want to ask of all of you -
when your candidate does something or says something real stupid....

Will you admit it?
Because they all have done it, and they all are going to have their moments.

They all will have their turn with the pole.

1. What was your problem with Biden tonight? I'm a Biden supporter too
and I thought he did great!

3. He did not answer
the widows question before going on attack. A big gaffe. Other than that he did well.

10. I believe he also started to answer a previous question after KO asked him a new question
And this got him a few boos. This was after he gave the widow the shaft (when he got booed big time). He screwed up before a crowed that lets you know when they think you're being a jerked....so, yeah, it was a bad night for Joe Biden.

5. Not answering that woman's question, and he just seemed like he
was trying too hard.

I still support him - just an off nite.

6. Yeah he kinda went off on his own
answering some questions. I like him though, no bull with him. He's says what he says, I don't always agree with him but at least he thinks.

I don't really have a candidate yet. Leaning towards Edwards but no committment. I would defintely admit it if he made a gaffe. They are running for President not sainthood and I know that no one is perfect and no one is going to agree with me 100% of the time, I don't always agree with me 100% of the time.

7. I lean toward Biden myself
I like his grasp of the problems we are facing and the confidence he has.
Also - because he has what the general population is looking for in a candidate and I think he would do well in the general.
I don't believe it is a done deal for the Dems in 2008.

I think your acknowledgment that Biden did not do well tonight shows uncommon character (though I didn't see it). I really doubt many others will follow though. But so what, that's OK!

8. He wasn't the only one who decided not to focus on the questions asked
but he came off as the most aggressive doing it, imo. The widow's question, in particular, was handled very poorly, I thought. I only saw the last half of the forum, though, unfortunately ...

I'm not a Biden supporter, though I think he often has very good things to say. Tonight I did not think he came off well, though ...

9. A Mr. Bush made the big mistake of his life by lying to the world about
weapons of mass destruction. Once we were there and no easy way out is presenting itself, a wise man would seek the counsel of people like Joe Biden, whose foreign policy expertise is reknown.

Unhappily for us and for a lot of the world, Mr. Bush is not a wise man.

He's a petulant man, emotionally stunted and too proud to admit when he's wrong.

The question now is which terrible choice of exit paths do we take, now that no good options remain?

For resolution and engagement at that level of diplomacy and statescraft, give me Mr. Biden over Mr. Bush any day of the week.

I wouldn't worry about tonight's debate at all. I'd give credit where it's due in foreign policy work (Mr. Biden) and I'd lay blame on the proper doorstep (Mr. Bush, Mr. Cheney, Mr. Rumsfeld, Mr. Kristol, Mr. Perle, Ms. Rice, etc.)

18. OC
Thanks for that! As always the voice of reason.

Pirhana; I think maybe Joe is just a little tired of being so underrated and other candidates taking credit for his ideas. H e does have a very good labor record and it is true that Delaware is not a labor state and he often took a lot of flack for his labor support in the past.
Delaware is primarily an agricultural state, especially in the southern end. Banking is the industry in the northern part.

13. I'm an Obama supporter, he should've answered the question about Barry Bonds
I thought it was lame that he dodged it.

19. I thought it was lame Keith asked it of Obama. And ONLY Obama.
As I have discussed on another thread.

And I only have two words about Joe Biden: Clarence Thomas.

What was your problem with Obama's answer?

I liked what he said, but he dodged the question that Keith asked him.

23. Maybe he never really thought about it
Maybe he was shocked at being asked such a blatantly racist question. And why should a President seriously care all that much about Barry Bonds anyway.

24. He could've said "I honestly don't know" or "I honestly haven't thought about it"
And I would've liked that a lot better than his dodge. The OP asked us to point out something we didn't like about our candidate's performance last night and so I picked this. It wasn't an important question anyway so it doesn't really change my view of Obama, but I think he could've handled the question better is all.

22. I agree w/ Pirhana
as a Biden supporter I almost choked when he didn't answer that widow's question. SHE won't be voting for him! I thought he did ok besides that but I thought it made him look stupid. He's done better in my opinion at prior debates. But I'm not giving up on ol' Joe!!!
