What you should know about Rudy
Let New Yorkers tell you: Giuliani's not the 9/11 hero you think he is
by Josh Johnson

When Rudolph Giuliani awoke on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, his political career was in the toilet. Nearing the end of his second term as mayor of New York City, his approval rating was in the dismal 30th percentile, and he was term-limited from running again. He dropped out of a 2000 Senate race against Hillary Rodham Clinton after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. Newsweek referred to pre-9/11 Rudy as "unpopular" and "irrelevant."

What a difference a day can make.

Later that day, the American public was introduced to Giuliani, covered in soot, addressing his city with a strength and poise not lacking the emotional weight of the tragedy. He was on the scene, not holed up in a bunker, and he commanded from the streets, just as at-risk as the people he was charged to serve. That day, even New Yorkers who had long called their mayor a "fascist" and "Adolph Giuliani" loved Rudy.

<snip>

A mess he helped create

To suggest that Rudy Giuliani in any way caused or knew of the events of 9/11 would be ridiculous. But the fact remains that, as mayor, Giuliani made decisions and ignored issues that tragically complicated the city's ability to respond to the attacks.

Some families turned on Giuliani when his 9/11 cleanup operation took bodies to a landfill.

1. Yes. Give him 9/11 because he was what we needed that day.
A building had fallen on him, I'm pretty sure he was in shock like the rest of us. More people he personally knew had died, than for most of us. And he still kept us focused, on helping and away from vengeance which were Incurious George's first thoughts.

He was what we needed him to be. No one has to take that from him.

BUT he then let our first responders work themselves to death without protection. He brought back the Wall Street workers while the air was still deadly. He let the government lie and made no protest.

He has done nothing that would earn him the right to be president. Quite the opposite.

HE CANNOT CARRY NEW YORK.

5. And when a building falls on you, hiding is a good idea, too.
But he didn't. Shock works wonders sometimes.

Bush, however, worked his alibi (I was reading to children when it happened. I'm innocent.) and then ran for cover (probably because his handlers didn't trust him not to screw it up and say something worse than he saw the plane hit).

3. The reason Rudy became a hero was because Bush was AWOL that day.
Remember, this was back in the day when the MSM was still doing ll it could to make Smirk look like a combination of John Wayne and Charlton Heston. They WANTED to cheer for him, but he was in hiding, so they cheered for the guy who showed up in his place -- Guiliani. Had Bush done his job that day, Rudy would still be in everyone's doghouse.

4. Don't be fooled...
Rudy was, is, and always will be a fraud.

9/11 was his photo opportunity, and boy, was he ready for his closeup.

He's been exploiting that tragedy (and the victims) ever since to advance his ambitions. He'd use 9/11 to justify ANYTHING.

If you thought Bush was bad, just hang on to your balls if Rudy gets in.

Heaven help us if he becomes our next President. Heaven help the world!
