THEY DON'T CARE
THEY DON’T CARE….

if they get caught in a crime
or we know they lied

if “innocent life” dies
or a family cries

if the infrastructure breaks down
or a whole state drowns

if they made 9/11 a holocaust
or the Constitution is lost

if our veterans are cheated
or our soldiers are defeated

if it’s 130 degrees
or there’s a million refugees

if America is broke
or our reputation is a joke

if the war goes on forever
or they pull the nuclear lever

if our food is polluted
or our treasury is looted

if insurgents light the wick
or poor children get sick

if our planet is choked
or the truth is cloaked

if we hang on by a thread
or our dreams are dead

if their war plan is foiled
or that we know, it’s about the oil

THEY DON’T CARE

4. No they don't AZ, but we do.
Thank you for sharing your creativity and obvious gift. Its always uplifting for me to see great work that comes from our anger and sadness.

Most of the time its our best work.

5. Very nice. You have touched on all the key points here.
Did you write that yourself? I suppose they can't have their beautiful minds bothered by the thoughts of those less fortunate.

Thanks Midnight,

Yes, I wrote it. I'm not a poet, but it sure came easy to me. Every once in awhile I have to vent. It was an overwhelming moment when I realize that all our criticisms and arguements, or no matter how right we are, means nothing to 'them', and never has.

8. This is the making of a great tune.
I'm watching a documentary on Portuguese music. Amalia Rodruguez and others. And the words. Anarchy stands for the elimination of suffering. And so many lines that could have been formed from this forum. I wish I could find the lyrics to those songs. And how appropriate those old songs were to today. How the fascists didn't listen to the Portuguese. Or the Chileans. And how they all eventually fell. But the suffering. The suffering of the people. And the loss. Like the loss in Iraq. The ruins. The pain.

I see a great punk lyric in the making with these lines. Or probably any genre for that matter.

I read this this morning, and finally got back to replying. When will there be listening? Caring? I posted a video on Frank Zappa doing the Crossfire show. The antagonism he received was exemplary of what we are seeing in this conservative government. They cannot keep to themselves. They're anger is projected out onto the rest of the world in the form of greed. Sigh.
