Sincere question for Hillary supporters (only)
This is not flamebait.
This is a serious question for those that support Hillary Clinton for the nomination.
All those that don't want her to get the nomination, please refrain from posting in this thread.
There are plenty of those threads.
I want to know what Hillary supporters think that she would do on certain issues.
How she would govern on these issues. Looking for some specifics other than generalities that she would use good intelligence sources, thoughtful common sense, etc. What policy changes would she set as priorities?
I know that motivation is often questioned here. So, here's my motivation. I think she will get the nomination. I want to have as much ammunition as possible in defending her and advocating her to some people who might be persuaded to vote for if she is indeed our nominee (but right now are on the fence or are leaning against doing so).
Coming from a very progressive mindset (try to make this old time liberal happy about her), tell me what I can expect her Presidency to look like on:

1. Middle East policy (be specific on Iraq/Iran/Afghan/Palestine)
2. Health Care reform (tweaking?/overall?)
3. Environment/climate change/alternative energy sources
4. Trade/job outsourcing
5. Campaign finance reform/public financing of elections
6. Media consolidation

In advance, thanks to all of the Hillary folks out there (and all other Dems working hard for and supporting their candidates).

1. Bookmarking
I'm not a Clinton supporter, so I cannot answer your questions, but I am very much interested in the answers, too.

2. Well here's what I think...mind you I am not supporting ANY candidate as yet
1. Middle East- diplomacy, diplomacy, diplomacy coupled with absolute protection of Pakistan/they have nukes!
1a. Iraq-no widespread pull out, rather gradual withdrawl with a "peace" keeping scenario

2. Healthcare- Health care will be reformed in this country with or without HRC. Best case? A Canadian system. Worst case? We will be offered via our employers a watered down version of health care called something other than HMO. It will be an opt in program and the stick will be penalties for employees who do not comply.

3. Environment- Head nods and nothing. Maintenenace of most forests and state or federal parks. Arctic/oil---folks its a gonner sooner or later regardless of who is in office.

4. Trade- Big changes coming. There will be a movement to trim back globalism for the sake of stabilization. But it hinges on the massive debts we have racked up.

5. Campaign finance- Give me a break, Congress will do nothing substantial on this.

6. Media consolidation- Again, I don't see the office of the presidency affecting much change in this domain.

And one more....the tax give aways for the wealthy will be eliminated. The Clinton's do understand, both of them, that you need revenue to make change and we don't have enough revenue in the US.

3. I think, by picking the right cabinet and administration
She can do anything 1000% better than this administration. She has very good ideas. She needs the back up to get them started.

But to add to this I think John Edwards is very good also. Obama gave me hope when he gave that speech at the 2004 DNC. But since he jumped into this race and you see him in action you see, the same old tired rhetoric, changing ever so often, for where he is, and who he wants to support him. I did not expect this of him.

4. I think her presidency will depend a lot on the makeup
of the rest of Congress. I think her fundamental outlook is more liberal than her husband's, but she will govern from the center if that is what the legislature wants. She learned from his first two years in office that you can't force liberal policies on Congress that Congress isn't willing to accept. Her terms in the Senate give her an advantage there, since she will hit the ground understanding what can and cannot be accomplished.

It is important to give her (and if not her, then the Democrat we do elect) a solid Democratic majority to work with.

ps - HRC is my choice among the first tier candidates, but not necessarily among the whole group. I'll make that decision when the time comes.

7. I'm not looking for bold initiatives
I want a sensibility in the oval office we've lacked since * was elevated. I expect her to be the strongest candidate to face the right wing smear machine - heck, she can laugh at it!

Hillary provides a clean slate for ME players to project their aspirations, which will give us window of opportunity to reverse some of our recent mistakes. She can begin the process of extracting ourselves from Iraqi politics, even as we continue our imperial policy of protecting our "national interest" in petroleum. She's not antagonizing Iran, but will continue our tough talk/teeny stick bluff, pushing off the inevitable day when we face a true nuclear confrontation (again). In Afghanistan, we can again expect a continuation of NATO's occupation, but I'd be truly surprised if she tolerated the outrageous conduct at their airport prisons.

She would be understandably shy about taking on Harry & Louise again - the best I could hope for would be the opening of a national dialog on how little we really care about each other. I wouldn't expect anything that would threaten established economic interests - but expanding CHIPS would be smoother sailing.

We could expand research & development into alternative fuels - in my chemistry classes two decades ago we studied fuel cell technology that still hasn't reached the market. Hillary would be unlikely to expand drilling into wildlife refuges or propose additional off shore drilling in the gulf.

I would expect to see unions have a greater voice in trade talks, but in the end, corporate interests will prevail. Similarly, I wouldn't expect to see any proposals addressing campaign finance nor media consolidation; the system has worked to her benefit and it takes more imagination than I believe she possesses to propose a realistic alternative to the status quo.

In short, she's an establishment candidate w/crossover appeal. I find her a safe choice and reasonable in the current hostile climate. I want reconciliation, not revolution and a national leader who can inspire us to work together for common cause.

9. I specifically didn't mention
her website. I know that I can go there (and I do look at all of the candidates sites and watch all of the debates/forums). What I'm trying to get a sense of is what those who support Hillary THINK she will do on some very important issues to me once she gets IN OFFICE. That is sometimes very different than what happens in a campaign. (e.g. W said he'd govern as a "compassionate conservative" and would not engage in nation building). Not comparing Hillary to him. Just wondering if people are for our leading candidate more on a gut emotional feeling or on specific policy matters.
I'd like to hear, I'm for Hillary Clinton and I think on these issues once she gets in office she will (fill in the blank)....mostly I'm hearing from people who haven't decided or or not 100% for her. Where are my 100% Hillary folks? (I know you're out there). Talk to me.
