Question for our Democratic Presidential candidates: Will you pardon George W. Bush? |
|
And if so, why?
Follow up question: Will you honor an extradition request from the International Crimes Court at The Hague for Bush, Cheney, or any other official in their regime charged with crimes against humanity, war crimes, and crimes against peace?
These are valid questions when considering what happened in the aftermath of the Nixon resignation, and President's Ford pardon.

1. No President would surrender a former president to the Hague. |
|
No Democreat would pardon him.

3. The DLC and the "Keep the Powder Dry" Democrats will push for a Bush pardon |
|
using the same rationale that President Ford used in pardoning Nixon.
A Bush pardon will destroy the Democratic President in much the same way it did Ford.

8. You are confusing the Libby case with the Nixon case. Nixon was not convicted or indicted! |
|
A Presidential pardon prevents prosecution and arguably could prevent civil liability.

12. The Hague has no death penalty. Bush may prefer to be tried there! |
|
Bush is responsible for a war of aggression in which nearly a million civilians were killed, millions more were displaced, not to count the cost in American lives and suffering.
No American President has ever been so deserving of standing trial for his life as George W. Bush, no one is more deserving of the ultimate penalty than one that was so cavalier about the death penalty while governor of Texas.
Given the choice of an American noose, or a comfortable life sentence at The Hague, the cowardly Bush would choose the International Crimes Court. I don't care which he chooses, as long as he stands trial for his crimes, and he receives the maximum sentence allowed by the laws under which he is tried.

13. They might not "surrender" him, but they just might look the |
|
other way as he gets "extraordinarily renditioned".

14. The best way to redeem America is by sending Bush & Co. to The Hague |
|
It will be a cleansing of national sins. Like the sacrifice of the red heifer at the ancient Temple in Jerusalem, or immersing oneself in the waters of the Ganges River, etc.

5. There is the matter of civil litigation from those wronged by his regime |
|
The American people need to know what a President will do about a pardon for Bush, and it is a valid question to be asked from our candidates.

11. As in the Slobo, Kissinger, and Pinochet cases, there will be requests for extradition |
|
Spanish courts submitted extradition requests for Pinochet and Henry Kissinger. Slobo was tried by International Crimes Court. A future Iraqi government could also ask for the extradition of Bush and company.
Just because Americans are sheep, it doesn't follow that the international community would not want justice done.
