Miners to drill third hole (on an angle this time) to where they think the minors would
have evacuated to if they were running low on oxyginized air.

Not looking good.

1. It hasn't looked good since the cave-in itself
Edited on Sun Aug-12-07 03:37 PM by rocknation
since it was strong enough to have been mistaken for an earthquake.

...(The town mayor) said "One thing that they did say is that they got into the right place, the place they had planned to reach and that the ceiling is intact. But they (the miners) weren't there, so they're talking about drilling somewhere else."

...(T)he new hole would apparently be drilled into an area that the miners were trained to group together in during an emergency.

Seeing as it was such a massive cave-in, I doubt where was any time for the miners to move anywhere. I think we're just being treated to a lot of media theater here.

4. They have two. One just does a 2 inch hole. This one does 8 1/2 inches.
