Can anyone explain the appeal of Mitt Romney?
I understand Rudy is the tough guy. Fred Thompson reminds them of Reagan. McCain is(was) a maverick. Ron Paul is outspoken on small government. Brownback is a religious lunatic. I just cannot understand why anyone likes Romney. Is it electability? He's just such an empty suit, I can't stand it!

1. Mittens is the brainless Ken Doll.
He looks good, says nothing of substance, and is too stupid to know that tying a dog to the top of a car is ABUSE. Can you image entrusting a whole country to him?

She thinks he's good looking. That's about it. If you asked her where he stood on issues, you'd hear crickets.

29. I used to know people that thought Richard Nixon was handsome & Pat was beautiful.
There's just no accounting for taste.Just think of all the words that rhyme with Mitt. We ought to have a
good time with that.

the worst of the bunch in my opinion just in 2004 all of a sudden he's pro-life and several other flip flops he's had. and what he said about his kids in his campaign instead of going into the military was the last straw in my opinion. who the hell is supporting this guy. they would be better of supporting Huckabee in my opinion.

I wouldn't think Huckabee was so bad except he supports the unFair Tax which I am 100% against.

22. YES
I've definitely had enough of that. I haven't heard him say alot on that (although looking at his site just now, I can tell you're right and he is a total religious nut). I've heard him say things like he wants to keep America's farm economy strong and stop outsourcing, which I agree with and which is more than some of our candidates will say, but like I said, he doesn't offer me nearly enough to vote for him.

McCain
or
Thompson

Hence, his popularity: none of the above.

10. What I don't get is why people think he's handsome.
He has a full head of hair - but so does Chris Dodd.

He's tall and not fat - so are some others.

His face and expression are not appealing, his coloring is - I dont' kmow - too harsh?

To me, he looks exactly like the husband in those "The Family that prays together, stays together," illustrations.

Even as a kid, I didn't think the guy in those ads looked like any Daddy I'd want to have. He looked more like Hugh Beaumont, who played another clueless, over-serious-but-always-reasonable father, to Wally and The Beaver.

But handsome? Presidential? Only in the comic-book sense.

15. I don't know what his appeal is but I suspect that the Bush
Crime Family is pushing him because he would be putty in their hands. Rumor has it that they already talked to him about Jeb as his VP. Jeb would run against him after the first term. That seems to be the plan.

18. I don't think he honestly HAS much appeal, beyond Presidential looks, which
is why he's not the front-runner. That said, what he DOES have is determination, money, planning, organization, ambition, a nice family, and a willingness to fight and get down in the trenches. He is making up for what he lacks on the likeable/trustworthy/authenticity front with all of his other attributes. I have always pegged him as being the last man standing if or when Rudy finally falls. Mitt has wanted to be President his whole life.

20. Anyone who would tie the family pet on the top of the car would
probably put forecrackers in frogs. He won the straw poll because he bought it. I doubt too many people like him. Hey, Iowa DUers, what is with Romney and Huckabee and Tarancedo (sp) winning out there? That is not promising for the state.

23. Well, I'm NEXT to Iowa, if that counts for anything, LOL! The straw poll
turnout consisted solely of the most dogged religious-right base. It was pretty much meaningless to the rest of the country, but Romney will still claim his victory, which I suppose is fair-- considering he's a Mormon up against a Baptist preacher and a Catholic "Knights of Columbus" guy.

They also love McCain, but he pretty much shot himself in the foot or head, wherever his brains are or were.

30. He's the Bush's pick
It may be because he and Georgie were both cheerleaders, but it's probably just that Mittens really does think the Presidency is a front for the corporate mob.
