I'm not voting for a Republican but I can't say I'm too enthused about the Democrats either

WTF?

We put these guys in office with what they should see as a clear mandate, and they're just rolling over and licking themselves.

WHAT DO WE HAVE TO DO TO GET THE MESSAGE ACROSS??

I was thrilled when they got into office, but now I'm seriously concerned. Does Bush have pictures of everyone in their underwear? WTF is going on?

1. SAme here... I'm not voting Rep. BUT....
...if the Democrats nominate another establishment candidate then they will become obsolete and I will be looking for a third party...or I will not vote.

4. don't not vote
Even if you vote for a third party, vote. People who don't vote get written off. The result is that the main parties end up focussing on a more and more narrow sample of the electorate. If you vote, then they think that they might be able to get you to vote for them, as opposed to if you don't vote, when they figure you aren't a voter anyway.

2. IMO, we're witnessing something similar to the "Conservative Coalition"
Edited on Sun Aug-12-07 05:48 PM by Hippo_Tron
Which was an alliance of Republicans and Conservative Democrats that held much of the real power in Congress for most of the years between 1938 and 1994 (the coalition wasn't need when the GOP took power).

The time when the coalition was weakest was when Johnson won a landslide in 1964 and many liberal Democrats were pulled in on Johnson's coattails. I'd also say that the coalition wasn't as strong during mid-late 1970's because Watergate also caused a lot of Republicans to lose and a lot of liberal Democrats elected.

The Conservative Coalition gave every Democratic President from FDR to Bill Clinton serious problems. They also helped Republican Presidents get their agenda through, such as Raygun passing his tax cuts.

The best thing that we can do is work to get more solid liberals elected to Congress.

3. I dont vote on party lines
I vote for the individual that I feel will do the best job, especially in local elections because those affect us more than the nationals do if you really think about it. Your local mayor has more impact on your daily life than those in DC, and the same goes for any other local office.

Maybe its just me, but, I have not been impressed by ANY candidate that has thrown their hat into the ring up to this point.

6. I will vote for the candidate, but ....
having a "front-runner" who seems so inevitable so far in advance is dampening my enthusiasm for getting involved in 2008.

7. Feel the same way
I've postponed work on my house over the last 2 election cycles that needs to get done. At least not being enthused about any of the Dem Prez candidates makes it easier for me to not get involved in politics this year and work on my house. I'll save my time, energy, and dollars for a future candidate who will get me enthused.

8. It Seemed Easier To Pick One(or two) Years Ago
They seemed to stand more by their convictions. You knew what they liked, disliked. There seemed to be clear lines of where they stood. Today so many of them seem to be standing on the line and the line is often a blur of yes, today or no tommorow. Just when you think you have them figured out they say or do something and you're right back at indecision time. The last time I really heard convictions was when Dean was running and somehow his message got all garbled when the press or the "dark side" started in on his "scream". I think we need more screaming and less polite talk. We are in a mess. The war gets more violent and more costly. People are losing jobs, homes. People are dying because they don't have proper health care. There are plenty of reasons to scream so why don't we hear them scream their message?????

9. If you're ready for a change
...I would encourage you to check out what Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is saying. you might find a lot of resonance there. I believe he could help bring about the change we seek but so far cannot find amongst the candidates.

10. When I hear or read this kinda stuff and realize it is proof that
Republican propaganda works..The .......A few Democrats vote with the Republicans and that makes the whole Majority at fault?..Understand that we need a larger majority in Congress so we dont have to deal with the Repuke political manuvering.Karl Rove is certainly enjoying all this bickering among Democrats.

13. thats the kinda stuff Republicans/karl Rove feed off of
So lets go back to a Republican Majority and another Repuke in the white house and then everybody will be happy again.....Right?....The Democrats Majority is so slim that its still very difficult to enact legislation without difficulty...If you dont approve of the Democrats that are voting for bills like FISA then get active and recruit Democrats to run against them in the primary and unseat them but dont condemn the whole party ...Listen to Russ Feingold and he's saying the same thing....He's criticizing those Democrats too that are siding with the Republicans......We still need a real candidate for our Presidential
nominee.. some are settling for those currently running but they are far from ideal candidates..but it appears that money not votes will elect the next Democratic nominee..If we should be lucky enough to have candidates like an Al Gore or Bill Bradley (or a Russ Feingold I'm dreaming ) enter the race than the money factor is no longer an issue and the Democrats would then have a real choice and it would turn this election upside down
Now this may be little off subject..But if we yell loud enough and long enough those Democrats that are failing us or ignoring us than we'll replace them with a Democrat that will listen.....

The Democrats Majority is so slim ...

You only need 50% +1 to keep a bill off the floor. They have plenty of votes. What they lack is a sac.
