The 2004 Democratic Convention is in Boston, MA
John Kerry is from MA. The DNC picked the 2004 site in mid-November 2002, 10 months before Kerry formally announced his candidacy for president. Kerry at this point is the likely winner of the primaries. The convention coincidentally will be held in MA, Kerry's home state.

Coincidence or what did the DNC know?

1. The DNC didn't know what was going to happen...
Coincidence, Dean would have won the nomination if he controlled himself better once he had the lead.

18. Emotionless Dean! Bloodless! Dukakis!
When the media come to get you, they get you. Period. If you're boisterous, they'll make out like you're climbing the walls and pinching little children. Which is what happened to Dean. If you're calm and serious, they'll say you're a boring, bloodless prig, remote from the common man (like they did to Dukakis). If you're smart, you're a know-it-all (like Gore). And if you're stupid, like Bush, and if the time finally has come to end your free ride and crush you, they'll simply, finally, say it.

5. is it a coincidence that they hired afascist cop w/reputation of violence
Edited on Mon Feb-16-04 08:45 PM by corporatewhore
against protestors who were against the RNC in philly and the FTAA in miami(hey kerry voted for bushs fast track to ftaa !)

John timoney yep they hired him;the same chief of police (miami police)who organised the imfamous "miami model"where peacful protestors were beaten gassed and shot w/rubber bullets after being told they wouldnt be hurt.

Amenesty International says the miami pd may have broke un law .

a judge said he saw police commit felonies and a 71 union retiree was arrrested at gun point.

coincidence?Kerry voted for big brother patriot act and Bushs fast track

8. I think we all know what the DNC is capable of
having torpedoed Dean like they did... Did they torpedo Dean because he stood in the way of the Grand Plan which included a convention in the home state of the nominee???

7. well... with 10 candidates from 10 states
Edited on Mon Feb-16-04 08:44 PM by Dookus
they had a 1/5 chance of being right. Now let's look at the record and see if that exceeds the odds:

2000: Los Angeles Nominee from Tennessee
1996: Chicago Nominee from Arkansas
1992: New York City Nominee from Arkansas
1988: Atlanta Nominee from Massachusetts
1984: San Francisco Nominee from Minnesota
1980: New York City Nominee from Georgia
1976: New York City Nominee from Georgia
1972: Miami Beach Nominee from South Dakota
1968: Chicago Nominee from Minnesota

Seems to me like this was well overdue.

on edit: damn, this was well formatted when i wrote it. Is there any way to insert tabs into these posts?

9. It's never been in Boston
because of the crappy Garden. Now, with the FleetCenter, in can be in the birthplace of the Revolution.

I look forward to being there and seeing Fenway.

10. Crappy Garden?
The place was shrine!!!! The FleeceYou Center is a bland corporate emporium which should fit the bland corporate politicians just fine.

Trouncing the Garden? This means WAR!

11. Hey, calm down
Edited on Mon Feb-16-04 09:08 PM by aldian159
I grew up in love with Chicago Stadium, possibly the best place to play hockey other then the Garden. The place got louder then an aircraft carrier during an emergency scramble.

The Garden, as was Chicago Stadium, was too old and small for a major convention. We got in in 1996 when the Staduim left us, now, because you have a new, large facility, it's your turn.

PS. Gotta love the A-rod trade, right?

12. Ahhh...the Stadium
Another fantastic place (saw the Hawks there back in the Roenick days).

Boston got NoRod...kinda funny in my opinion.Boston's inferiority complex with the Yanks is embarrassing.

16. Man, those were the days
when the Hawks mattered and the bulls mattered. Those were some fun times. We had two great winter teams, the city lived and died all summer with some mediocre (at best) baseball teams, and Clinton was in charge. How could it have gotten so worse so damn fast?

I bet they were counting Kerry out when they scheduled it.

14. the mayor from boston offered the best deal
he tried in 2000 but lost out to los angeles. terry mcauliffe said the mayor had the best offer so boston won. i think new orleans was also in the running and may have been better as a chance to try to get southern support. i don't think it will matter much in the end though.
