Obama Names California Coordinator
August 16, 2007 @ 6:25 PM

Sen. Barack Obama has named Mitchell Schwartz as the California director for his presidential campaign.

Based in LA, Schwartz is a political mastermind. I worked with him in 1991 and 1992 in New Hampshire, where he helped engineer Bill Clinton's "win" of that state's primary. Schwartz built the Granite State's organization from the ground up. I recall meeting with him before he even rented office space, and watching the campaign grow (as depicted in the early scenes of "The War Room").

Schwartz moved onto the White House, where he ran advance and other efforts for years. He then moved back to California where's he's dabbled in politics and other more profitable ventures and has been, in his words, "dusted off" for the Obama campaign.
