Market Advice--Any money you have in the market
you should be able to lose(over the next 5 years) B Butler, Fox

CNBC Reporter: Next 5 years the market will be shaky.
If you have money in the market which you plan to use for
your child's college and he/she will need this in next 2-3 years
take that money out now.

If you have money in the market that you plan as a downpayment
on a house in 2years--take that money out now.

This really seems a market for the "BIG Boys" who can take
losses.

1. bookmarking to post in the Stock Market thread Monday morning...
This sounds optimistic to me, but then again, I've been very pessimistic about everything lately.

Thanks!

2. my bro who's an expert says do NOTput money in the market if you need it now to next several yrs,
Edited on Fri Aug-17-07 09:23 PM by wordpix
EVER. No one can time the market. The stock market should be for long term investment, 10-20 yrs. or more. Those who play daily are gamblers and no one but those who can afford to gamble should go there. So far my bro's advice has worked for me---I've made modest gains in the long term (10 yrs.+). Acting on fear or euphoria in the short term hasn't been pretty personally and isn't for most people.

4. Your bro is right.
I have invested for over 30 years and still have some of my original stocks. I never bailed out when the market slumped because it always came back.

3. No one should put money in the stock market that they will
need within the next few years. However no one can predict what will happen within the next few years. If you take your money out now you are foolish. Remember it's buy low sell high not buy high sell low. I can guarantee you that the big boys are waiting for the little guys to sell their stock now so that they can buy it when it's low.
