Kucinich draws cheers from Veterans for Peace

"This was a Dennis Kucinich kind of crowd...

After musician Steve Jacobs of the Catholic Worker Movement entertained the crowd with his song "Who Would Jesus Bomb?," Veterans for Peace Executive Director Michael McPhearson introduced Kucinich as the only presidential candidate to promise a Cabinet-level department of peace. To deafening applause.

In his speech, Kucinich reiterated his stance that the U.S. Congress should force the Bush administration to begin withdrawing troops from Iraq. But he also brought the crowd to its feet multiple times with a passionate delivery of his positions.

"We need to start building bridges instead of blowing them up," he told them.

"We need a doctrine of strength through peace," he said. "We must abolish all nuclear weapons, not build new ones."

2. And it is so unfortunate that peace is becoming a dirty word.
Department of Peace sounds pretty good to me :)

7. Of course he does!
He is the least likely to spend the lives of troops except as a last resort in defense of the nation.

Who supports the troops? Those who would spend their lives for lies, for greed, for empire, or those who would preserve their lives until our final need?

Kucinich is truly a tremendous politician. Even though he gets mocked, his constant pursuit of peace and nonviolence is amazing.

10. Many supported him last time.
I am not sure if they did as a group or if it was just our local group....

This is cool!

11. This speech of his sounds very much like the one
I heard last Sunday at a private home in LA...

I really applaud his ideas!
