Maybe the anit-Chavez propaganda in MSM is so intense right now because
when the US economy goes into the crapper as a result of the credit crisis, they know Chavez will be commenting on it and comparing it to what they're doing in Venezuela (like this http://www.venezuelanalysis.com/news.php?newsno=2388 and this http://www.venezuelanalysis.com/news.php?newsno=2387) and they're doing what they can so that Americans don't start wondering if they'd prefer their form of western european socialism over our form of capitalism.

1. Americans are indoctrinated from birth to the grave
to see socialism as evil and to believe that Americans have the highest standard of living and more material goods than any other country in the world. The MSM continues to put out that message. Yet many countries have higher standard of living, more freedom, and definitely better health care. Americans will have to have the whole middle class be decimated and vast numbers of dirt poor citizens before they will begin to question rampant capitalism and corporate rule.

3. Chavez is leading to find a way that doesn't
depend upon the domination of the other powerfult countries. I think, so far, he's doing a good job.

4. I think Chavez is denounced because he a budding Castro.
I think we've seen the last open elections in Venezuela for a long time.

5. Out of curiosity
Any specific reasons why you consider him a budding Castro and that there will be a lack of open elections now?

I'd prefer your reasons backed up and not just an opinion

6. I don't care about Venezualan socialism.
I'm more concerned that Chavez is building a cult of personality that might harm democracy in yet another oil producing country.

10. Some lesson there. Don't be too committed to helping people, or, when you become popular
with the vast majority of the population whom you're helping, you get criticized for starting a personality cult.

I'm not sure I'm sold on your formulation.

You condemn so-called "propaganda" while linking to two stories sourced from Hugo's pravda-esque media mouthpiece.

Awesome!

Either they're not very good at propaganda or they think the truth will set us free.

12. If his policies were going to lead to ruin, MSM and US Gov't would work so hard to undermine
his credibility.

It's the opposite. It's just like Allende. It's the fear of success that drives the anti-chavez propaganda.
