Anti Semitism is alive and well!
Did you guys hear that? On Washington Journal?

"I won't vote for John Kerry because he is a Jew! Ruth Bader Ginsberg has one of the most liberal records on the Supreme Court. They will drive us right into socialism".

I haven't heard anything quite that OPENLY bigoted on WJ for a long time! What a MORAN! (And I use that as a polite term for her).

YYYYUUUUCCCCKKKK!

7. It was some bigot caller
on Washington Journal. The question was if the Democratic primary was being rushed, and all of a sudden, out of the blue, this idiot starts to spew her hate all over the phone. She said something other hateful thing in her next breath, but I was so astonished by this, I have forgotten what it was.

ALWAYS been alive and well. People just feel more at ease with vocalizing it now. It's rampant.

16. The I/P issue,
IMO, has been a "opening" or "springboard" for the true anti-semites to come out of hiding. I'm not saying everyone who finds fault with the I/P issue are anti-semites, but for those who are...it gives them an excuse to speak out under the guise of being "concerned" over the I/P issue when all along they have hated Jews. It's a cover for SOME.

25. On the other side...
This new brand of Zionism is an excuse for anti-Muslems to come out of the hate closet. For SOME, as well.

Haters will always use real issues to further their agenda. It's not exclusive to one side & it shouldn't take the legitimacy away from the real issue.

Most people want two states. Most people want peace.

There should be 2 states, but the issue was anti-semitism.

14. Many loathed (original) JFK for similar reasons...
....since 60%+ of our citizens are Protestant. John Kerry would also be the first Roman Catholic President since JFK (2nd all time).

:-( I'm Jewish, and I call a spade "a spade"---Gore would have won with Kerry or Edwards as his VP (the other two, besides Lieberman, on the list of three--for those who didn't know)

18. Does Edwards have a lock on the anti semite vote?
Kerry has a Jewish grandpa, Dean has a Jewish wife, Clark had a Jewish father, and Bush is advised by a mostly Jewish PNAC.

Does that mean the anti semites vote for Edwards?

(BTW, in no way am I implying that Edwards would WANT such votes, or that the opinions of most Jews agree with PNAC)

19. Semites = Arabs, not Jews
The semetic people are descendents of Shem, meaning all Arabic peoples.

Israeli Jews are Arabs as are Palestinians, Iraqis, Syrians, etc.

Many Jews are European and, therefore, not Semites.

So this whole thing is a based on a misappropriation of the word Semite.

23. semantics...
What the "true" definition of "Semite" is, is beside the point. Nonetheless, if you look up "anti-semite" in a major dictionary, it is most likely to say something like "One who discriminates against or who is hostile toward or prejudiced against Jews" (This is the first definition at www.dictionary.com )

21. If he is Jewish (I don't know), then what does that have to do
with anything? Why is religion/sexual orientation/race/sex...etc...a deciding factor for many people?

Sad world we live in. :(

22.  My guess why this was an issue....although I didn't hear the debate
My guess is that she won't vote for Kerry becasue he basically played it off in Boston that he was Irish Catholic for ages, and then he claims to have been totally suprised to recently learn his family was Jewish. (lots of ICs in Boston = votes votes votes) Lots of people in the area felt like Kerry was being deceptive, and thus have said they'd never vote for him again due to this. It wasn't because he was Jewish, it was because they felt he was lying about his background for years.

I would sincerely hope that somebody would be so bigoted. I hope my explanation is correct
