Even if it was not a revealing interview.

There's just something too "spinny" about him. I want solidity. I'm getting too much what feels like bullshit. I've had enough of that. As if that's ever going to change. We're so busy reaching over to the "other side" for any real truth to occur.

I could be totally wrong. And I'm suspending judgment on my choice of candidate until much later.

Edit- I should never have posted this. Oh well.

13. No. "Where's the beef?" is a tired, cliched talking point.
Unfortunately I also find myself thinking that when I hear from Obama.

I like the guy. I really do. I'm just not seeing a lot there. I need to see some steak with that sizzle.

That said, he's still number two on my list. Which is more of an indictment of the other candidates than praise for Obama.

And, yes, the field leaves MUCH to be desired. Very sad about that.

27. I am so dismayed that he won't get the nomination
he might have made a good president. But the fact is the people are not ready to accept him. If he had waited a couple of terms he might have convinced a lot more people to vote for him.

If Edwards does not get the nomination I am afraid the republicans will win again. Hillary will also make a good president, BUT since she is a woman she won't get it. America is too prejudiced to vote for a woman or a black. They just wont' accept them. The men would go ape if she got the nomination. Most of them think it would ruin their macho if they voted for and elected a woman.

32. it's tag-team poo politics
There is a serious influx of this sort of stuff, some perpetrated by more skilled individuals, others not so much. I missed the 2004 primary here at DU, so I assume this stuff is not a big surprise to anyone. Elections bring strange things out of the woodwork.

33. Well.... actually Kitten....

You didn't really miss the 2004 primary..

Just change the names HRC and Obama for Dean and Clark and you are there!!!!

Seriously though... the weird thing is -- Kerry's name was probably mentioned on here once every couple of months by maybe one or two people...

And when it was..

DU'ers had to stop and ask them: http://eliteleague.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/duh!.gif "Who?"

..........Iowa changed this place over night!

34. I told some folks that very thing today.
That is was strange because it seemed like it was Dean and then * voila * Kerry was the nominee.

And that's precisely why I believe SS Clinton is sinkable. "Inevitability" became moot in 2004.

This is going to be one hell of a ride. I strive for as much clarity as I can muster daily here at DU because of the, um, interesting challenges here.

I think some people completely lose their minds for a spell every four years or so.

35. It was an awesome comeback by Kerry...2004 should have taught people to expect the unexpected
and never trust the polls, especially this far out. But here many of us are again (present company excluded), thinking we know what's going to happen.

We don't.

41. Ask BLM, she was here
and that's a crock. The Dean and Kerry people went after each other every day, 10 times worse than now, then Clark got in. Kerry was never doing as badly on the ground as the polls showed. He was almost everybody's #2, even the Kucinich people. That's who you want to watch, the one everybody is willing to accept if their candidate doesn't make it.

39. I remember 2004
and I had no idea who John Kerry was. There was a picture on the front page of the newspaper with all the candidates faces and I noticed his hair, but didn't remember his name.

In 1992 I didn't have a clue who Bill Clinton was either. We have some surprises in store!

(Michael Dukakis? Jimmy Carter?)

and so did many others, including Dr Funk, BLM, Octafish, Kleeb, Will Pitt for chrissake, a bunch of people. Kerry was everybody's second choice as well. I don't know what thrill people get out of kicking Kerry. He would still be the best President out there.

46. I think Obama is really sharp. I like him.
He's not my first choice, but he's waaaayyy ahead of Hillary, in my book. Of the candidates that are running (Gore & Clark are left out here), Kucinich represents my views in every way. I like Edwards very much, but I didn't when he was my Senator, even though I had worked on his Senate campaign. I was disappointed with his performance as my actual Senator..how he handled his office here. But I've watched Edwards learn some hard lessons about what goes on inside the beltway, and he has matured in every way. I think he'd make a great president.

Besides Kucinich & Edwards, Obama is probably 3rd, tied with Richardson. Richardson & Obama are a little too compromised, however, when it comes to the DLC, but nowhere NEAR as compromised as Hillary.

I thought Obama did a great job on Jon Stewart's show, and I have always had this gut feeling (for what that's worth) that someday Obama WILL be our president. I, personally, don't think he's ready for it now...I'd like to see him learn what Edwards has learned before he takes up residence in the Oval Office. But someday the man will probably lead this nation.

:kick:

47. I think he's really sharp & I like him, too. My o.p. was a reaction to the performance I saw
last night. It was a spontaneous deal-ly, not an all encompassing profile of his candidacy. He seemed tentative and lacking confidence. That said, his overall message of conciliation might be good for the country, but I've been saying since 2000, we need STREET FIGHTERS. We have had our NOBLE candidates who just let themselves be skewered by the dirty Rethugs. See the bottom row, below. Every single one of them was better, smarter, more visionary, more idealistic, more public service oriented, better in every way, than the Rethug scum that BEAT them. Also, specific to OBAMA, traditionally the Veep candidate was supposed to be the attack dog. His niceness wipes out that helpfulness.

I've never really delved into primary fights before, just voted for the one I think has the best chance of winning in the General Election. I love all Dems of all stripes. I *have* been thoroughly conditioned to being flamed in the Saint Hugo threads. Heck, I usually don't get flamed in GD. I do something original and get flamed in LBN, of all places, but that's because the San Hugo news is almost always Latest Breaking.

Anyway, so long GD-P for now. I'll revert, as best my resolve holds, to my usual stance of Big Umbrella neutrality -- at least until I pick somebody. And when that happens, I will just name my choice and still not attack other Dems.

He really impressed me. He was very natural, smart and fun. Diplomatic, focused on point but without sounding like a robot. i actually like what he had to say and the fact that he is clearly an individual speaking from his own mind even if it goes against "conventional wisdom". You don't get a sense of every line rehearsed and voted on in committee like I do with another candidate. I would say that the campaign should be very proud of him and expect a very positive bounce from the appearance.
