It's time to ignore the bashers!
Don’t some of you people realize that when you enter this forum waving your banners for a certain candidate while all the while bashing someone else’s, that it reflects badly on yours?
It makes others believe that perhaps Obama or Kucinich or Edwards aren’t playing fair, and that looks bad, on them. You’re not helping your candidate by trashing mine. What’s wrong with you people; have you never heard of an honest, friendly debate?
There is not a Democratic candidate running that I wouldn’t vote for over a repulsive Repuke.
And each and everyone of us, should feel the same way.

That is, unless of course, a few of you have ulterior motives. Like maybe getting the pukes, back into power.
Yes, damn it, I do believe there are a few of them, who have slithered their way onto this site, wearing blue and holding a stealthy banner pretending to be one of us. But don’t be deceived, they are here trying to spread their venin among us, to intentionally get us to argue. This is a patented GOP deception. (Anyone want to argue that, I can give you a hundred examples.)
You guys may fool some of the people on this site; but I believe, most of us know who you are, and what you are. And my advice to my fellow Democrats is to simply leave you alone to wallow in your own mire!

My friends, I refuse to comment on their posts any longer. You can talk to them until you are blue in the face and get no where with them.
Now, ask yourself, WHY?
The answer is simple, it’s RIGHT there staring you in the face.
Democrats, my, ass…
It is illogical to stare the truth in the face and call it a liar, but the repukes have mastered it!
So, if you want to waste your time with these puppets, go right ahead; you are only playing the game that they have so masterfully sucked you into!

BE A DEMOCRAT - VOTE DEMOCRAT
Peace:dem:

30. Some of us do!
I always appreciate posts that are informative, promotional messages about someone's candidate. It seems fewer of them are jsut that as time goes on. Often they are ruined by some snide comment at the end with something like "too bad the (insert name here) bashers will hate this".

Those that are what you describe I always try to K&R. As an undecided primary voter I take a lot away from those great posts.

We don't need that kind of "help" in our deliberative process.

21. So if someone misrepresents a candidate's record, we should shut our piehole?
Is correcting someone when they attack a candidate with a misrespresented point or outright lie something we should just let happen, since it would appear to be "bashing"?

Should politics be a parlor game for neophytes, pollyannish prudes or shrinking violets who dare not discuss the issues at hand?

Check out the Lobby.

I READ THE POST.

I'm all for friendly, honest debates...but when the "debate" is laced with inaccurate information (say for instance, Obama probably would have voted for the IWR), that there needs to be someone who calls that person on it. Politely, yes, with links...but then you see it again by the same person in another post.

Put me on your "list"...am I taking notes?

34. "Good and loyal Democrat"
Why does that sound wrong?

Because it isn't necessarily the same as a loyal defender of the constitution -- who might want to weed out some other party's choice for our nominee.

Stop trying to make us all take loyalty oaths. That's not democratic! (note the small d)

Sorry, I should have phrased that differently
Good and loyal American, would be more appropriate.

The thing is, I agree with you.
But let’s be realistic. You have to know that a third party candidate just is not going to win. And now is not the time to take that gamble.
I wish it wasn’t so, but sadly, that’s the way it is. Maybe in the future we can change things, but we will be lucky to even have a future if we don’t make a change in this county’s direction now.
The people I point my finger at are the one’s who say things like; “If, so and so, isn’t the candidate, then I won’t vote at all, or I’ll vote for someone like Ralph Nader..”
This great country is too perilously close to disaster for us to except that kind of logic.

Good luck to you and Peace!
James

39. I wasn't sure if I was reading your post correctly or not. Glad we're in basic agreement.
I really think that most of the people saying, "I won't vote for Dem So-and-So," really will just the same.

I know I said that about Gore when he picked Lieberman for VP in 2000, but of course I still voted for Gore -- and that's before I had any idea how bad Bush and his party would really become!

I do think it's important to keep weighing the merits of the D's with their hats in the ring. I was mostly (emotionally) responding to the word "bash" which everyone is using to fend off criticism of their preferred candidate. Until we've got an official pick, we really need to keep looking them over carefully and that's bound to entail some negativity. That's what I was really trying to say.

Yes unfortunately, even a friendly debate can raise our emotions over the limit sometimes. But we have to get beyond that, we have to stay a cut above.

The truth is, I personally don't have a favorite at the moment; I'm leaning toward three of them, but like you said, I'll keep weighing and eventually, with the help of honest friends such as yourself, I'll get there. And I'll do it without the name calling, lies, and asinine insults that these embedded trolls so blatantly try to shove down our throats.

Thanks again for your insightful comments and keep the faith. Something tells me, we’re gonna make it.

44. Also ignore "defenders" personally attacking critics
Hey,

One of the worst effects of the candidate-bashing is that it creates an atmosphere in which overzealous DUers react to all criticism of their preferred candidate as if it were bashing, and retaliate accordingly. There are some RW disruptors here, but far outnumbered by well-meaning DUers who are like broken records making the same complaints about the same candidates over and over. Both are annoying, but familiar phenomena and easy to ignore. What I find harder to ignore is the blowhard bullies who are obsessed with what they see as victimization of their candidate, and constantly lash out with personal attacks against anyone who expresses any criticism whatsoever. Some threads have dozens of personal attacks in them and alerting does nothing to stop it.

So while we're using the ignore button, I'd suggest that we need it just as much for supposed defenders of candidates who are aggressive, nasty, and relentless attackers of fellow DUers. There are far more posts of this nature than there are of the candidate bashing variety, and they do more to ruin the atmosphere IMO.

My 2 cents,

CYD

“One of the worst effects of the candidate-bashing is that it creates an atmosphere in which overzealous DUers react to all criticism of their preferred candidate as if it were bashing, and retaliate accordingly.”

And that is these people’s game plan; upset the apple cart, cause all the dissention we can…

I’m not sure whether you missed my point or not?
I’m certainly not implying that people should not defend their candidates -- only do it without the lies and personal insults.
Debate is the heart of this process, but not when someone stoops to those tactics.
Remember. We listen with our ears, not our mouths.

Thanks for your comment and good luck to you!
