Edwards's Lincoln bedroom comment
He could have been referring to bush...no? I'm sure he had a bunch of corporate types stay there...right? Thats what I would say if I were him. Something like:

"I was actually speaking of bush and his oil buddies. However, I do find it strange Sen. Clinton thought I was referring to her."

Doesn't seem all that difficult.

4. He has to get press somehow...
This is better than letting Elizabeth snap at everyone's heels imo.

3. It stuck to me as referring to the Clinton Lincoln BR hullabaloo.
A cheap shot for sure. If Trippi didn't authorize it he should kick Edwards' ass for saying it.

5. why?
Why do you choose to believe he was referring to Clinton and not bush? Just wondering.

6. Because
there used to be a lot of talk about that famous bedroom in relation to Clinton, but not in relation to the current occupant, as far as I know. By the way, I have no idea what Edwards said.

9. What Edwards said! Below
, "The American people deserve to know that their presidency is not for sale, the Lincoln Bedroom is not for rent, and lobbyist money can no longer influence policy in the House or the Senate."

10. well
that is probably true. Only Clinton and Obama have their speeches aired live...it would seem. Anyway, the basic point of the speech was that everything in washington needs to change..including letting corporate donors/buddies etc hang out at the lincoln. It is something every administration has done and Edwards feels it needs to stop.

27. Just because of the publicity Big Dog got on Fox News.
Hannity wouldn't let the bedroom issue die. Of course Bush has always gotten a free pass on everything, so Murca doesn't care that Jeff Gannon and Karl Rove were wildly trysting in there numerous times. Still, I think it was a mistake for Edwards to bring it up. Let Hillary and Obama do the attack-each-other thing.

An appeal to Republican voters? Or an effort to solidify their resolve to re-elect another Republican?

8. I support Edwards Lincoln bedroom comment. It is consistant with his
any lobbyist stance . It is a justifiable comment and well delivered. Go John!

12. I'm sorry but John should not be talking about bedrooms.
It will remind people that he has like 10 or 12 of them in his new home.

18. But John does have the 3H problem.
Hair
House
Hedge Funds

I think John (and Elizabeth) have made several message mistakes - this is just another one. I really don't think some aspects of his campaign are as tight as they should be and I can no longer blame Joe.

I have had 6 people tell me in the past 3 days (and I am in NC) that they think he is an empty suit. Each of them felt sad that they had come to such a conclusion. He is after all a local.

22. Not true about not voting for him anyway . . .
The Lincoln Bedroom comment is the kind of thing that appeals to certain of John's fans - those that hang on every word.

However, the general public that is not hyper-focused on the campaign and gets their info in a more fragmented manner see him as just flailing about. It makes them uncomfortable.

26. I think it's a good quote
It attracts Republicans without appealing to their bigotry. Renting out the Lincoln Bedroom is wrong no matter which party does it.

28. And in the next Iowa and National
polling Edwards will find his butt trailing by 3 to 4 more percentage points.....He is doing himself no good at this moment trying to attack the one president that 75 to 80% of Democrats like. He sure as hell does not want to get into a debate against the Big Dawg. The Big Dawg will turn his ass inside out and make Edwards walk backwards.

I do thank you
Ben David
