1. Thompson worries me the most.
There are too many morans who think he is the second coming of Ronald Reagan.

28. Fred Thompson is very overrated
His performance has been dismal, and this is before he even joins the GOP debates (which he has wisely avoided). His yet-to-be-launched campaign has gone through 3 campaign managers. His very young wife has pissed a lot of people off. And, he is not Ronald Reagan!

31. His "very young wife" is ten years older than Mrs. Kucinich
How has she pissed a lot of people off?

4. I think it would be Huckabee. He's someone the fundies could love,
He looks and sounds like a friendly common man. I have no idea what might be in his background, but I think HE could be a real problem to turn people against.

a nice guy. It has not happened since Eisenhower.

23. Didn't he deliberately destroy a whole bunch of hard drives on his computers (at taxpayer
expense to replace) when he left the Governor's office? Sounds to me like he was afraid of any dirt coming up during his prez run. That doesn't sound very clean.

8. Romney is good looking
and smooth talking. Does this remind you of anyone? I am beginning to believe he would be the perfect Republican nominee and most difficult to beat. To me Thompson comes across as old and grouchy. Rudy could be a problem but I find it difficult to believe that he could get through a national campaign without eventually being seen as the snake he is.

11. I dunno about Romney. Lots of comments in the MSM about him
being a fake, saying anything to get elected (but not believing any of it), and tonight, Chuck Todd just commented that Romney had to defend his position on abortion AGAIN! That kind of stuff in the media takes a real toll.

26. I've noticed the media really seems to hate Romney, almost to the
point of unfairness (not that I want it to end, mind you). Why couldn't they save us the same way in 2000 when Chimpy first reared his empty head?

10. Where the fuck is Ron Paul?
Don't fall for the garbage, the GOP is pushing their most populist candidate to the rear in favor of the corporate candidate, just like the DLC is.

So none of this means a god damn thing.

25. Wouldn't you have said the same about Bush?
Back in 2000, I didn't see how it could even be close with him as the Republican candidate. Every time he opened his mouth he seemed to say something completely stupid. There were all those embarrassing moments, he couldn't name world leaders in a television interview.

29. Giuliani, by far
I've talked to hundreds of tourists and they like the guy, for whatever reason. That's very dangerous to ignore. That likability will equate to teflon, another T to go along with terrorists and taxes. I bet on Giuliani at 10/1 to win the GOP nod but I'm rooting against my money. It would be far simpler to run agaainst a standard Republican in '08.

18. There's no opinion for none of the above
I don't believe any of these would be very hard to beat. They all have disadvantages, McCain is disliked by most Republicans, Romney religion could be an issue, Thompson won't have any crossover appeal in swing states and Giuliani has a whole laundry list of things that could effect him. I don't see any of them as formidable.

19. Who would be toughest of those four?
I agree that none of them appear too formidable.

Although I cannot think of a candidate who appeared less formidable than GWB.

But he won't run--he's not delusional, he knows he has no chance in the primary.

24. How come?
He has a very conservative record on the social issues, and he's been against Iraq all along. Plus he's a vet. Why wouldn't he do well in the primaries?

27. You said it yourself--he wants Iraq to end, and he's a vet.
That makes him DOUBLY disappointing to GOPers. The only vets they love are the ones who just can't get enough of war (that's the only thing that's been keeping McCain afloat--his one redeeming quality). The ones who have been shot at and wounded and come back from war and think, "Well, that was kinda pointless" are not welcome in the Republican party.

30. He'd never win the GOP primary though
He has been too critical of Iraq/Bush for GOP voters (in reality, he hasn't even been very critical).

I voted for Thompson. He has a Southern accent, which would automatically win him at least 13 former Confederate states.

Can't get the nomination...

McCain -- Brain Dead and PTSD -- no chance at the nomination...

Romney -- Gobs and Gobs of money -- scary...

Thompson -- another fucking actor -- scary...

Although no matter who they select to be the puppet out front they'll be running the corpse of ronny ray-gun again...
