Not that a talented band would have to resort to hatred and gimmicks to fill the state fair Ted was playing at.

26. Those who push the fringe to lunatic extremes...
... open up a new frontier for what is considered serious discussion. Take institutionalized torture, for instance. Ten years ago, it would be unthinkable, but now that the lunatics have pushed the debate boundaries, it's not only thinkable, it's a serious possibility and another front against which reasonable people must expend effort.

You have to take the batshit crazies seriously.

10. Pants crapper Nuge appears for public ridicule again!
Faux tough guy extraordinaire!

This guy is certainly in the upper echelon of the chickenhawk brigade.

Nugent Evades Vietnam Draft
He claims that 30 days before his draft board physical, he stopped all forms of personal hygiene. The last 10 days, he ingested nothing but Vienna sausages and Pepsi; and a week before his physical, he stopped using bathrooms altogether, virtually living inside pants caked with his own excrement, stained by his urine. That spectacle won Nugent a deferment, he says. "... but if I would have gone over there, I'd have been killed, or I'd have killed, or I'd killed all the hippies in the foxholes...I would have killed everybody." - Detroit Free Press Magazine , July 15, 1990

16. Sends a chill up my spine. Isn't that the definition of terrorism?
All these candidates want to do, is promote a responsible and accountable government and in a democracy. That is not a threat to anyone who loves this country. For Ted Nugent to threaten the lives of anyone especially a potential president is terroristic, treasonous, and un-american.

You think anyone with any respect for our system of government would be ashamed and frightened of this man's action. If he pleads entertainment, then what is incitement to harm? The difference is in intent and his intent is made with machine guns. He wasn't being anyone but himself and watching this how could anyone misunderstand his intent? Naming them personally is a direct threat. Shameful and certainly not American! Is our dream for this country accepting of these actions?

42. Below average Player.
Hi all,

I'm the new guy {or a new guy},, so, Hello. I can't believe I didn't find this place sooner. Looking for it might have helped.

Regarding TED. Look, I must admit that this one has my blood boiling. It's worth considering though, that he had this very idea in mind when he pulled this childish and unfortunate stunt. I mean, I'm pissed. My 9 year old Boy wants to know "what's Dad all worked up about?".. well, here's the thing..

I'm a guitar player from Michigan. It's how I make my living. I'm not Famous Like Teddy Boy but, I play in a pretty Famous "heritage Rock" Band or, a "Legacy Band". What ever. See, it drives us nuts here in Michigan. I'm tellin' ya. I live within 5 miles of 10 Guitar players who whip his ass on their worst fucking day. He phrases like a little kid, can't sing and is about as soulful as,, I don't know,, George Bush? In short, he's a fucking Hack on the guitar. Yuk!!

So, along with having to put up with his tone deaf ass on THAT level, he started in on the whole "I love to kill shit" routine some years back. Now, he brings his Gun's to his shows and comes very very close to threatening people{maybe more than close} who I think are pretty fine people. Even if they weren't on my "fine people list", you don't instruct someone, anyone, to suck on the end of a Machine gun. Ya just don't. Sick Sick puppy.

So, now what? Part of me wants to go find him. I wont though, even though it would be fun, I don't want to end up in jail for playing interesting "Tech Tricks" on his touring rig. {Oh, man, I could fuck him bad} but it can't just go by. Really. This is way over the line in my view and how can we just let him slide? If he wanted our attention, maybe we should give him some. I say we work the legal angle. There must be something. Like, who's in his band? Who's doing the Audio for the tour? Who's doing Lighting? What are the next stops on the tour? Who's the Promoter at these venues and how dare they allow him to show up? What endorsements does he have for Gear, strings, Mic's?.

I want to know all this stuff, so, I'm going to find out.

Please send this video to your Reps in Washington. Take this to Christian leaders and insist they comment publicly. I want Keith Olberman to do more than a "Worst Person In The World" bit on this.

What the hell is going on here? He can't do this.. Really now..... Sorry for the long post.

Ivan...................................

19. doesn't he now have Secret Service protection?
as an official presidential candidate? Either way, I keep thinking about how the fundies wanted the Dixie Chicks' heads to roll just for saying they're ashamed of the president. Somehow in the fundy mindset that calls for death threats against the Chicks but an actual, albeit one hopes joking, reference to sucking a machine gun elicits cheers? I'm all for free speech and Nugent can hate all he wants (gods know I hate him) but that crossed a line.

Also of note, he only disparaged the female candidate and the black candidate. Nothing bigoted about that, right? Gah! Freaking moran.

"NRA-vetted talking points"? LOL.

You do know what the verb "to vet" means, yes? Yes, it is true that my writing is entirely my own work, but no, the NRA is not vetting my writing for me, at least not that I am aware of. Nor would I want them to, as their own arguments are usually pretty lame, though not as lame as Nuge's of late. More power to them if they want to study how to talk about the issue in a reasonably calm voice, though. :eyes:

In truth, NRA talking points would use the word "sportsman" in every other sentence (I hate that word), with a lot of hand-waving about how Sarah Brady wants to take Winchester Model 70's from the small minority of gun owners who own them. When opposing bans on small-caliber rifles, they typically blah blah blah about "sportsmen can hunt with them" (true, but largely irrelevant) while ignoring far more salient points.

Why would I want to look up what some NRA flack says about small-caliber carbines? I have direct access to three such carbines (I own two, my wife owns one), and I'm a technical writer by training, so I can damn well write about them myself.

I also have (gasp) my own digital camera. Who'da thunkit?

I have to say that at least you don't tend to cut-and-paste Brady/VPC/GunGuys talking points (thank you), but there are plenty on your side who do, as you are well aware, I'm sure.

I saw Lynard Skynard in 2001 and caught Ted as he opened for them. He was waving around a gun then as he sang a song called "Kiss My Glock". Sounds like he's been doing pretty much the same act for the past 6 or so years - why did it take so long for anyone to notice?
