Edwards denies slam on 'insiders' is directed at Clinton
==WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Despite widespread media reports that his comments disparaging "establishment elites" and "Washington insiders" were directed at Sen. Hillary Clinton, Democratic presidential nominee John Edwards denied Friday that he meant to slam one of his chief rivals.

"Nothing I said yesterday has anything to do with other presidential candidates," Edwards said.==

== The speech was widely reported as a thinly veiled attack on Clinton, a chief rival for the Democratic presidential nomination and the frontrunner in most national polls.==

==Former President Clinton is well known for trying to find a "third way" on issues that appealed to members of both political parties. On Thursday, Edwards said "We cannot triangulate our way to real change."==

5. Senator Clinton is unfairly linked to her husband's administration.
If she HAD been running things, I have a feeling she may have done a few things differently.

But that Lincoln Bedroom comment, and to lesser extent the triangulation remark, is what everyone is focusing on.

Frankly, to be concise, the comment was about BILL, not Hillary. But of course, there's an association between the two. Even though that wasn't HER administration.

I just wish the media would focus on the messages, the positions, the overall views on important matters of the day, and not bore in, like dogs with bones, on soundbyte comments that really don't throw any light on the candidate's actual stances.

See, Michelle Obama says something about how she and her husband raise their children--the media SAYS it is about Hillary. Edwards says something about political contributions, and takes a small swipe at the BILL Clinton administration, and the media leaps to smear it on Hillary. Both campaigns got some airtime, but where were the messages of the candidates in that airtime? It is all covered as Catfights and Fisticuffs.

Eh. The tee vee is serving us all rather poorly, but what else is new?
