1. If there is a terrorist attack or false flag operation, there won't be
an election, there will be martial law.

2. Simple: The attacks show Republicans can't keep us safe.
We win.

9. Agreed.
Every "vote for Republicans, because we're the ones who have kept you safe from another attack" comment goes down the toilet in one, loud flushing noise.

3. I'm not sure the Bill of Rights could withstand another event like that.
Most of the Bill of Rights have been violated in some form already. This event would simply give the government license to violate them even more egregiously.

6. With Cheney's hunger for power and not wanting to relinquish it,
I think it's more a matter of "when" rather than "if".

4. Kucinich will win
Dennis Kucinich will win.

He'll win because he will make a statement similar to the ones he has been making whenever he finally gets a chance to speak in a debate. It will be a statement that garners media attention as being different from the normal responses that normally come after terrorist attacks, which is what Hillary or Barack will be giving. Kucinich will be talking about strength through peace and citing the Iraq disaster after 9/11. People will come to their senses and follow his lead.

8. Sorry, Guiliani by a Landslide
Mr. 9/11 will win because of just that: He is Mr. 9/11.
I have come to the theory that American politics is a Bell Curve. 20% are Freeper - by choice or blindness, 20% are Democratic - Sorry, but once again by choice or blindness (Although I think that the Democratic % by choice is much higher than Freeper) and 60% are drifting in the middle. Most of us are blissful ignorant. (Yes, I am one of the 60%.) Ironically, they too are that way by choice or blindness.
That being said, it should be conceded that the Freepers have a much more effective spin machine. I did NOT say better, just more effective. Unfortunately, in the relm of politics, those terms are synonmous to that 60%.

P.S. I don't have a degree in English and I already know that I can't spel. I am a wrench turner.

12. Couldn't disagree more.
Let him TRY to run on 9/11. It'll expose him as a complete phony.

13. Ahhh, but....
You are speaking from the standpoint of someone that is "informed". Us 60% are not so lucky, or motivated. We are lazy. We see the message that is, almost literally, put directly in front of us. I read this forum... Occaisionally. I seriously doubt that the majority of the 60% do.

This is your responsiblity, really as Americans. And it is mine as well, admittedly. We have to make people informed. Truly, and unbiasly, informed. The press has failed us. It then falls on us to their job. Or at least pressure them to theirs... Correctly.

14. Welcome to DU.
I don't agree, I think the Freeper Machine, although it still is plugged in, doesn't work very well anymore. My mom (72 years old and political her whole life) says she feels a "sea change" in Milwaukee, an area dominated by a right wing newspaper and tv media.

I think it's over for the spin machine. The talking points don't stick anymore.

Big Eddie often says we have truth on our side, and I think he's right. We don't need any spin.

15. Thank you for the welcome
That may or may not be true. I will believe that the "Spin Machine" is really losing power when affiliates start dropping shows like Rush. Not that he will go away, mind you, but he will lose some audience.
I do agree that Milwaukee is a major market, but it is an urban city with strong Dem support to begin with. (Us City Slicker like them Dems!) In Chicago, I am not sure if most people know there are 2 parties. (I think those that do get a "SCUBA vacation" to the bottom of Lake Michigan. Shit, did I use my "out loud" voice for that?)
At any rate, I would have to see something more nationally for me to believe that. I think that most people are now in the mode of "traffic, weather, building fires, murdered rich/young white women/pre-teen crossfire victims (or any combination thereof)" when it comes to news programs. The press has lost so much credibility as a whole. It is hard to guage anything at this point. I don't even trust poll numbers any more. It wouldn't surprise me at all to to see a Huckabee/Kucinich race in November.
Us 60%ers just shake our heads and go into the polls, think about what the last bad thing that we heard was, who it was against, decide if we care, pick one, and hope like hell that it was the right decision. We have done poorly these past couple of times. And, to be honest, we will do it again. Not becuase we are mean, or malicious, we just don't know any better.

17. The Democratic Party would gain, big time. The GOP would lose, big time.
Change "terrorist attack" to "another Katrina". Another terrorist attack on Bush's watch would get Bush run out of town on a rail.

Rudy is not going to get elected Dogcatcher, unless the GOP suddenly embraces cross-dressing candidates who are liberal on Guns, Gays, and Abortion. Not in my lifetime...
