I have read some of the histories of the voting back in the day with delagates...now the way things are, one candidate gets most of the votes by the end of the primaries and so there is no voting ballots at convention...
However, with the loading of the primaries making it harder for all candidates (even the ones with money) to compete for the votes. So it turns out that there are just a purality rather then a 50+1 percentage for each candidate and no one gets the 2100 or whatever it is number...so we have to actually have a convention that being a delagate means you vote for someone there...
How is that for something to ponder.

....it's Saturday afternoon and we're already drinking.
I think it would be great if on February 5th primary there were five different winners - we would indeed have a real convention. Campaigns would actually have to DEAL with each other.
I'm looking forward to it.

It appears to work down here in Australia though I'm still figuring out the system.
