His entire family had come to hear Obama speech, and for first time they're considering voting Dem.
Meanwhile in front of the auditorium, about 20 young Cuban American students waved placards in support of Obama. Among them was Giancarlo Sopo, 24. The Miami native, now a student at Harvard University, said his entire family had come to hear Obama's speech, and it was the first time his grandmother and his parents were considering voting for a Democrat.

"We've been engaged in a failed policy with Cuba for the last 50 years. And we need to change it," he said.

Sopo said he supported Obama because "he has defied conventional wisdom."

Later Saturday, Obama planned an event at the South Beach nightclub Mansion. The party was to kick off a grass roots effort aimed at younger voters.

Regardless of what the poo-flingers here say, this is terrific.

2. I cant seem to determine something-
What it sounds like to me is that Obama is committed to "regime change" in Cuba. I don't want to jump to conclusions here, so if someone can post text of these comments in full, I would really appreciate.

My concern here is that this is sabre rattling against Cuba. Have we not done enough to Cuba to strangle it over the last 50 year? Why are we still the only country on Earth to be openly hostile toward Cuba?

4. Obama is for negotiations with Cuba and the removal of Bush's restrictions

The more democratic and free Cuba becomes, the more open to trade and normalized relation Obama will become.

Raoul Castro has recently mentioned that Cuba is willing to have talks and negotiate "like adults" if the USA is willing to as well.

It's a start.

Personally, I think Cuba is a lot more democratic and free than we give it credit for, that our biggest real complaint against them is that they hurt our business interests with the success of the revolution, and that lifting the embargo will go a long way towards relieving the authoritarianism they adopted in order to protect themselves from our many nefarious plots to harm them. But we are not going to get an in-depth re-examination of the merit of the Cuba embargo in this campaign, the media would destroy any candidate who questions the conventional wisdom too much, and it would be too big of a distraction from the most prominent issues of this campaign.

5. Thank you. I am in agreement with you on most of that.
Again, I seem to be having a tough time finding any transcript of these comments.

I am always curious to see the context in which Cuba is mentioned- if ever.
