Italy: how (Bush-admirer) Berlusconi founded a new Party and called it "Freedom Party"
Berlusconi founded a new Party.
No he didn't.
Yes he did...

Well, it depends on whom he is discussing with. Journalists or allies.

In the latter case, no, he didn't. It's just a project for the future, he says now.
He must be very clear, as his right-winger allies and the Lega Nord in particular took it very diffidently (to use a kind expression...)

First, he registered the "trademark" of the "Freedom Party" and provoked (hostile) reactions on the part of his allies.

The Economist, http://www.economist.com/world/europe/displaystory.cfm?story_id=9687693

"On August 21st Silvio Berlusconi's latest acolyte, Michela Brambilla, a successful businesswoman and ex-beauty queen, announced that, on the opposition leader's behalf, she had registered the name and symbols of a new “Freedom Party”."

While on the centre-left side, the merger between the 2 major parties and the creation of the Democratic Party experienced local and national congresses, popular vote and will experience the Primary polls (next October) to decide who's going to be the leader, in the center-right coalition there's only one person who makes decisions for all.
Berlusconi, naturally.

He creates parties as he would create companies and firms. He can't even imagine a Party is made of people, opinions, emotions, passions, choice, activists. Typical of the Italian miserable paradoxes, his Party's name refers to FREEDOM.
The choice of Mrs Brambilla (a pic of hers and Silvio having fun from the Italian paper La Repubblica, http://www.repubblica.it/2007/08/sezioni/politica/berlusconi-cdl/commento-berselli/commento-berselli.html) is clearly aimed to give a new image of the right-wingers: younger, more attractive, beautifully aggressive.

The Economist:

"Many believe the maverick billionaire is preparing his next outrageous trick: either to slough off his existing party, Forza Italia, and its middle-aged and generally unglamorous leadership, or arm himself with two separate movements, the newer of which would aim to woo the disillusioned younger voters Ms Brambilla claims to have drawn to her Freedom Circles. In the retail business—and Mr Berlusconi once ran a supermarket chain—this is known as “line-filling”."

The opposition within the right-wing coalition is going to last but not to win. Berlusconi has always things his own way. The allies make a lot of noise but no inner opposition.

It's true though that catholics divided - part of former allies, months ago, joined the Democratic Party project in the centre-left. "Caesarism" is not very appreciated by many former moderate catholics. And the rightists in Alleanza Nazionale suffered defections and the founding of a new rightist more radical Party (the third, among the far rightists).

But all the noise will be suffocated. There's no victory hope without Berlusconi's Party. He's the ruler.
Next electoral "victory" will probably be achieved by "Vittoria" (Michela Vittoria Brambilla), Berlusconi's "dauphin".
We'll see.

In the interim, let's register the next example of how the right-wingers Bush-lovers in Italy interpret the word "Parties" and "Freedom": these people are really the basest things crawling on the political arena of the century.

The mirror of so much of my Country's insensitivity to danger.
