Sign petition to save Air America in San Diego - only 363 signatures so far, please help!
http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/save-klsd-am-1360.html

You can sign wherever you live.

The GOP views San Diego, America's 6th biggest city, as key to turning California red and stopping a Democratic sweep of the White House in '08. Clear Channel is planning to convert San Diego's ONLY progressive talk station into an all sports format -- unless there is a massive public outcry. Sources inside KLSD tell us management is sympathetic and fighting hard to save progressive radio--but they need our help!

If you are in Southern California and can possibly make it to the rally tomorrow morning (7:30 - 9 a.m. Monday at KLSD) please click here: www.saveklsd.com to print flyers and get more info.

You can also contact KLSD advertisers and urge them to support the station, and call Clear Channel in San Antonio, Texas to ask that they keep our progressive voices on the air ways.

Even if you don't live in San Diego, some of you may have enjoyed listening to Stacy Taylor, who has guest hosted many times lately on Randi Rhodes show.

Finally, please kick and recommend this thread so we get get it on the homepage and get all 80,000 or so DUers to help out!

I posted a couple of times over the weekend but the thread kept sinking.
Don't let conservatives take over the airways in one of the biggest voting markets in the country! San Diego voted for Kerry in '04-so we're not a conservative stranglehold anymore. The Republicans fear having voters here learn the truth -- so please help us keep bringing honest views to voters in our area!

5. Thanks for the info, signed the petition.
I lived in San Diego for 60 years before moving to the South Coast of Oregon, often talked to Stacy Taylor on and off the air, it's a really good show that San Diego needs. All the best to them.

Bill Moyers talks with FCC Commissioner Michael J. Copps

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=1668878&mesg_id=1669133

"The next two months are the period of public comment during which you can let the commissioners know what you think about these rules...

Citizen action can still work. We all get kind of frustrated in the 21st century. And you know, the big guys rule everything. And to a large extent, they-- they have too much power. But concentrated citizen action can still work. When three million Americans speak up, Congress pays attention. The country pays attention. And things can happen. And they can still happen. And that's where my hope is right now.

I don't want to just defeat bad new rules at the Federal Communications Commission on media ownership. I want to get some positive rules for the new environment we live in that will reinvigorate our media with some sensibility, to the common interest of the public interest..."

13. I wouldn't even if I still lived in SD.
In my many years on the net, there's at least one thing that has always remained constant, and that is online petitions never work.

17. I know one that worked: asking Barbara Boxer to contest the Ohio electors.
Her petition had 9,000 when it landed in my mailbox, after it had been around for a week. She was still on the fence but saying if enough voters wanted her to contest, she would. So I forwarded to heads of every Dem Club in California. 24 hours later there were 30,000 signatures - and the next day she announced she would contest the vote!

You have more power than you think, every person reading this out there.

20. It gives decision-makers (politicians, corporations) "cover"; for that
reason alone, petitions are useful. We know that Dem politicians have asked for petition signatures, emails, etc. to give them concrete evidence of support for certain positions.

21. Exactly why petitions *do* matter!
Edited on Mon Aug-27-07 11:06 AM by RFKin2008
It's about people standing up to show their support, and you've got mine. Signed it!

Air America is constantly under threat of extinction in markets across the USA, and California is going to be critical in the 2008 election.

If you *are* lucky enough to have an Air America affiliate in your area, cherish it while you can. It may not be around a year from now. Please support their advertisers, too, because that's how they pay the bills.

And be sure to listen to Bobby Kennedy Jr.'s show, "Ring of Fire" on Air America every Saturday and Sunday, or listen online at http://ringoffireradio.com.

Starting a petition drive and not getting as many signatures as you'd hoped for can be very disappointing, I know. Although we just started the petition drive to draft Robert F. Kennedy Jr. into the 2008 race, we still need signatures. Less than 200 so far...:(

If interested in showing RFK Jr. your support, please visit http://RFKin2008.com and SIGN THE PETITION!
