Developing-Republican Bill Bennett in Grip of Imminent Dominatrix Scandal

I happen to know that several major news organizations have for some time been looking into claims about portly conservative moralizer William Bennett and a leather-bound dominatrix bodybuilder in Las Vegas, a woman who has some very interesting narratives to recount. What news organizations? The top five that come to your mind are on the list. Some reporters have even traveled far and wide on this story.

Does this mean the story is true? No. It is "developing," as our favorite cybergossip character assassin likes to say, and it may go nowhere. Every day reporters track down leads and follow up on tips. Sometimes this goes on for a while and they may never nail down the leads. And that’s certainly true if there’s no truth to them.

It’s interesting, though, that Matt Drudge, whose standards are far lower than even those of the Weekly World News, hasn’t run a blaring headline like, "Bill Bennett in Grip of Imminent Dominatrix Scandal." I say that, of course, because last week Drudge ran a breathless "world exclusive" report of his own claiming that news organizations were chasing down "recent alleged infidelity" on the part of Democratic front-runner John Kerry.

Now, with regard to the Bennett rumor, take my word for it (and don’t ask any more questions right now, okay?) that several reporters have communicated directly with first-hand sources–as have I. But what Drudge claimed about Kerry was so ridiculously far removed from the supposed source that you’d have better luck using a Ouija board to determine if there’s any scandal in his future. The Washington Post and several other news organizations, Drudge claimed, had been looking into the allegations based on the rantings of a "friend" of a woman who supposedly had an affair with Kerry but who "fled the country" and conveniently couldn’t be reached.

1. This is so funny

Yesterday when there was a thread about Texas Gov. Rick Perry being caught in bed with a man, someone mentioned that the other man was Karl Rove. Then I threw out that it was a "virtuous" threesome with Bill Bennett, and that chocolate pudding was involved. Now, come to find that Bennett may be a kinky guy, after all. Hmmmm, there is something of a perv air about him. It's always those holy rolling Christian conservatives who are the super freaks.

2. It could be hard to break this story

Dominatrices are usually very tight-lipped about their clientele, seeing as how many of them are powerful men. Confidentiality is sort of considered an expectation of the profession.

3. As much as I'd love to see Bennett politically neutered,

this scandalmongering tone is clouding the issues. The media is looking for another "Monica" type of scandal anywhere they can find it, just to increase their profits. The thing is, after a month or two, it's old news. The Clinton scandal ran its course, sending shock waves through the country, but eliciting sympathy by the time of his impeachment.

Even though I believe there's nothing to the Drudge gossip about Kerry, these things are so damaging even if they're false, I'd gladly trade the Bennett thing for the Kerry thing. Let them both go away so we can talk about the deficit, healthcare, WMD hype, the environment, jobs...

8. You have got to be kidding

Our extended family went to Vegas a couple of years ago, the handout-ad booklets with Neked women promising the world to all comers were up and down the streets, in newspaper stands, in the gutters, just littering the whole place up with the stuff. Made for a Real family atmosphere.

Mr.Bennett should keep his bones out and off the street when he travels through Vegas, then he won't be confronted by such temptations when he goes there to gamble.

an established pattern from Bennett. Self loathing is the usual reason for being involved with a Dominatrix. I can think of no man who has more reason for self loathing than Bill Bennett.
I really do hope it's true. This could be yet another chapter for his 'book of virtues', another choice reason to abandon the Republicans claims of owning the moral high ground.
