Except that the Taliban look upon opium production as a punishable by death. Bush gave them $75 million in 2001 because of this.
This story has nothing to do with the Taliban.

The licensed the growers and work to ensure the opium makes it into proper hands. It *is* widely used in prescription drugs after all.
But, no, we will just try more force as usual. We'd rather spend billions on defense than millions purchasing these crops.
