Okay, technically I'm not gay -- to be specific, I'm of the lesbian persuasion. In light of the Larry Craig news, I have one question...

Are all republican men gay, or at the very least, latently so? Sure as hell seems so. Don't they have better things to do but go into politics just cuz they hate themselves? I mean, really, do we all have to suffer for their self loathing?

You know, Larry, and all you other repug homos, you could just MOVE to a blue area of the country where you're allowed to be gay and still like yourself (hell, love yourself, even). It's NOT that complicated. Open suggestion to latent homosexual rethugs: Stop making everyone else's life miserable just because you can't deal with your sexuality. Deal with it.

When I say I'm gay, straight people look at me weird because many of them think gay means homosexual male. And I am every bit a woman. So yes, I think of myself as gay because that includes lesbians in my world.

I just wanted to make it clear for the straight folks here that I am female. (Hence I don't know much about the male latent homo bathroom pick up scene). The repugs sure do though. This makes 3 just this summer. :)

it's the philadelphia international gay and lesbian film festival this week. whenever any film fest comes to town, i would ordinarily rearrange my schedule and spend much of my free time seeing obscure films. but this year, the festival falls right after our move. with all the post-move crap i gotta do around the house, it looks like i won't have much time to overdose on gay cinema this year. as a case in point, at this very moment i am sitting at home doing my new hobby, waiting for the cable guy to show up.

but anyway, i did manage to see "heroes and gay nazis", a documentary about gay members of the german skinhead movement. the film had a lot of potential. i think the problem is that they tried to do too much and as a result ended up with too little.

the film interviews a bunch of gay neo-nazis or former neo-nazis in modern germany. about midway through, it then goes back in time and explore the sexual orientation of members of the nazi party during the third reich. but that itself could be it's own documentary. and because so much of the film discussed the 1930s and 40s, it's coverage of the modern gay nazis, the one's i was more curious about, felt a little thin.

13. I think the self-hatred runs a lot deeper than sexuality.

Repugs hate pretty much everything about themselves. They live in a cauldron of self-loathing and fear, but the only way they can continue to function with such damaged psyches is to project their revulsion onto the world. So, instead of confronting their own inadequacies, they pretend that it's the rest of humanity that is evil and depraved.

Unfortunately, the lens of self-hatred in such people is so powerful that every feeling they have is twisted and warped. To them, other people are little more perverts/scroungers/cowards who want nothing more than to destroy "America" (a proxy for "unattainable perfection" in the Repug mind). If the iron boot is removed from their necks, they'll run riot. The Repug believes this because they know that, if the iron boots of religion, social position or career were removed from their necks, they would run riot, causing untold damage. So they naturally project their own lack of maturity and psychological health onto their "enemies" (which comprise the population of those who do not come from the same social class as the Repug, and share identical beliefs).

The world is indeed a dark and violent place...if you're a Repug.
