Oprah Winfrey Muscles Wedding Party For Rooms Needed For Barack Obama
Source: Post Chronicle

by Gia Cortina

Oprah Winfrey wants her guests for her Barack Obama fundraiser to stay at a tony resort, and may have used her muscles on a wedding party to get the rooms she needed, reports TMZ.

According to Page Six, Oprah wanted out-of-towners for the big September 8th benefit to stay at the San Ysidro Ranch, but it was already booked for a wedding. "Oprah's people have been calling the bride to either move or vacate some of the rooms to accommodate her guest list," says a Post source. "The bride, an attorney, is not budging."

Oprah's reps and the manager of the ranch, Marco Perry, have denied that there was any muscle used, but says, "The wedding party did cancel a few rooms, but we didn't charge a cancellation fee because there was such a demand for the rooms that weekend."

3. This happened in Kennebunkport when Bush visited last summer
I think it was last year.

A wedding was booked and the Secret Service took over the hotel and the family had to move the wedding. I can't remember what accommodations were made for the wedding at another location or date.

21. National security
Or, at least, Presidential security.

The SS needed the ballroom for a command center. So the poor bride who had planned for this day for over a year was chucked out. I'm sure some arrangement was made. I seem to remember the hotel putting up a large tent for her reception on the hotel grounds. Not 100% sure though.

23. When Richard Nixon had phlebitis, he took over an entire floor at Long Beach Memorial...
Earlier, when told that Nixon was critically ill, California Governor Ronald Reagan gracelessly said: "Maybe that will satisfy the lynch mob." In fact, the hospital switchboard was jammed with sympathetic calls, and its mailroom flooded with get-well messages from across the country. One room had to be set aside to contain the flowers.

Nixon's trauma last week in <Long Beach> Memorial inevitably brought to mind his initial, cryptic refusal two months ago to enter a hospital: "I'll never come out alive." He had finally, of course, yielded and spent twelve days in Memorial in late September and early October for treatment of phlebitis, the painful inflammation of the veins in his left leg that has bothered him off and on since 1964. It could at any time cause a fatal blood clot to travel upward in the bloodstream through his heart to the lungs.

New Tests. Doctors had discovered a clot in Nixon's right lung during that first hospital stay. Fortunately, the small clot did no major damage, and supposedly adequate doses of anticoagulant drugs to prevent formation of new clots enabled Nixon to go home to his San Clemente villa.

Time

I highlighted the Reagan remark as an example of "Reaganesque Rhetoric."

5. Oprah already crashed a wedding with her friend Gail.
I don't know what it is with celebrities, they think people would automatically be happy to have them around. ...I’d be mad if she crashed a party of mine, especially a wedding.

9. Why do Hollywood people always fuck up when dealing with politics?
Write a check, Hollywood. Get a hundred of your friends to write a check.

Have a party, but don't involve the candidate.

In The Secret Garden with Barack Obama
Posted Aug 27th 2007 4:44PM by Karu F. Daniels

Just about everyone knows that no one does up an extravagant affair the way Oprah Winfrey does.
If the glitzy and momentous "Legends" weekend of festivities the billionairess hosted at her palatial Santa Barbara estate in 2005 was any indication, her forthcoming fundraiser for Barack Obama is going to be "the place to be."
The date is set for Sept. 8 and a cavalcade of bold faced names -- such as George Clooney, Halle Berry, Jamie Foxx, Beyoncé Knowles, David Geffen and Jeffrey Katzenberg -- are expected at the event for the black Democratic presidential hopeful.
According to published reports, the affair will be an iron-clad one.

The recommended dress for the fundraiser is "garden party attire," and guests were informed they'd be dining on blankets under tents... not in the big house -- or anywhere near it.
Other strict rules include no cameras allowed on the premises, and there will be heavy security to make sure it's enforced.
And to avoid a rush hour of chauffeured automobiles, guests must park at a "greeting center" eight miles away and take a shuttle bus to Winfrey's estate
:wow:

19. Why would an Edwards fan post this non-story?
Edited on Tue Aug-28-07 09:23 AM by zulchzulu
Of course, this kind of stuff NEVER happens at hotels where multiple big events are happening at the same time...

:sarcasm:

The OP might want to change the source to where the story REALLY spawned from:
Rupert Murdoch's New York Post... he's the guy on the left.

Remember that one.

Even though some Obama supporters gleefully posted an LTTE slamming the Hillary campaign, let's call this story what it is - Bullshit
