So now that one of the last rats has jumped off the sinking ship |
|
and it appears that our "leaders" are going to let them get away with the billions they have blatantly stolen and they will not be held accountable for the huge shitstorm that they have left behind, how are we/they (Democrats) going to avoid taking the fall for the crimes, and subsequent consequences, that have been committed?
There will be no impeachment, failed or otherwise.
There will be no accounting of the missing billions lost in Iraq.
There will be no accounting for the abject failure (or success depending on your POV) in New Orleans.
There will be no accounting for the theft, nor restoration, of our formerly inalienable rights.
Do we seriously believe that we will not be blamed for the disastrous consequences for these failures that will begin to manifest just about the time the new Democratic administration takes office?
Are we looking at a one-term Presidency, hobbled by a divided legislature, that accomplishes nothing, followed by another bout of Republikanism, all because our current "leadership" chose to do their masters bidding?
Please, for the love of Dog, tell me how this will not happen.

3. Exactly, it is the same game with a different face and I fear that we have become |
|
so dumbed down that we will fall for it again.
Looking at the Republik field, I don't think they have any intention of winning the Presidency, but rather of splitting the legislature, most importantly to gain control of the Senate, to block any reforms and to force a "compromise" in the forthcoming SCOTUS nominations. This is the end-game and if we fail, as we have so far, we are lost.

2. Looks like the preamble to a perfect setup. |

The next President, if a Democrat, will inherit a country on it's knees. They'll spend pretty much all of their first term just figuring out how deep the rabbit-hole goes, with no hope of repairing the problems in time for the election.
That'll provide a prime opportunity for the "reformed" Repug party in 2012 to take the Presidency and Congress back.

4. It seems pretty likely that our next President will be a Democrat. |

The makeup of the Congress is another matter. Since our "leadership" has decided that election fraud, in all of the forms used by the Republiks, is an issue we will not talk about, let alone do anything about, it is a very real possibility that we will have a Republik Senate that will block any attempt at rolling back the crimes of the BFEE®. Further, it is sheer fantasy that any of the perpetrators of the crimes will ever be charged. So, they will get away totally scott-free with looting the treasury, decimating the military, wrecking the domestic economy, and likely starting WWIII with an attack on Iran.
How is simply electing a Democrat into the White House going to fix anything? The battle we have to win in order to change course is to take a real majority in the Senate and increase the majority in the House.

5. The Hammer hits the nail |

This is the thing that very few see and why we need to either elect a REAL progressive democrat OR an independent.
We can't put a capitulator in office who will continue to make the radical right wing of the GOP look moderate by comparrison, nor can we have someone who flipped from DLCer to LIberal Warrior just to run in the primary. That is a formula for future disaster.
If we can get a real progressive, who can get in there and shine the light of truth on what the GOP did these last 8 years, the whole for the GOP will get deeper. However, a capitulator will just get in and "let it all go".
If we can't get a progressive dem in, we are FAR BETTER OFF to get a real independent (Bloomberg type, with liberal values), who won't necessarily reflect on either party and may allow both parties to find their legs for the next election and any time in office spent cleaning up messes will not be blamed on the Democrats.
