AMERICUS TIMES-RECORDER (AMERICUS, Ga.)

AMERICUS, Ga. — Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) will host a convocation featuring presidential candidate. John Edwards beginning on Wednesday in the Student Success Center Convocation Hall in Americus.

Sen. Edwards’ wife, Elizabeth, President Jimmy Carter and former First Lady Rosalynn Carter will also be in attendance.

Edwards’ remarks will focus on his vision for how we can work together as a nation to build One America, where the opportunity to realize the American Dream is available to everyone and not to just a privileged few. He will talk about the importance of having the courage and determination to change Washington and bring about real solutions for ending poverty in America, halting global warming, guaranteeing universal health care coverage for every man, woman and child, putting America's working families first, and restoring America's moral leadership in the world.

Born in Seneca, S.C., Edwards was raised in Robbins, N.C., a small town in the Piedmont. A proud product of public schools, he became the first person in his family to attend college. He worked his way through North Carolina State University where he graduated with high honors in 1974, and then earned a law degree with honors in 1977 from the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill.==
