The greatest offense in the Sen. Craig case--Republican recognizes need for counsel when arrested...
OK! OooooKaaaay!... How many times have we heard the ol' GOP standard, "If you've done nothing wrong, then you've nothing to fear?" or "If you're not guilty, then you've nothing to hide?" How many times have we witnessed the trashing of trial lawyers by Republicans?

Well, another case of gross hypocrisy heaped on top of gross hypocrisy:

But in a statement released late Monday by Craig's office, the senator expressed regret for entering the guilty plea.

"At the time of this incident, I complained to the police that they were misconstruing my actions. I was not involved in any inappropriate conduct," read the senator's statement. "

"I should have had the advice of counsel in resolving this matter. In hindsight, I should not have plead guilty. I was trying to handle this matter myself quickly and expeditiously," Craig concluded.

ABC News

"I should have had the advice of counsel in resolving this matter." Really, Senator? Y'think? But, if you wanted to wait to talk to a lawyer, wouldn't that suggest you were guilty? Isn't that the reasoning you Repubs use when you use the Constitution as a doormat? I mean, why need a lawyer unless you're guilty? Right? Isn't that the GOP mindset?--People "screaming for their civil rights" are guilty?

Perhaps now you'll see why there is a Constitution; why there is a thing called habeas corpus; why there is a thing called a "trial lawyer;" why there is a thing called the ACLU.

Just like your hypocritical stance on gay rights (voted YES on on constitutional ban of same-sex marriage and YES on prohibiting same-sex marriage), you have an equally-hypocritical stance on civil rights. What is that old adage, Senator? "A liberal is a conservative who's just been arrested," or "Nothing turns a conservative into a liberal faster than a booking," or something like that. Sound familiar, Senator?

So, Senator, the next time you and you fellow Repubs want shoot off your mouths to trash the concept of habeas corpus, or question the need for defense lawyers, the ACLU, or the US Constitution (that "quaint" little "goddamned piece of paper"), just do us all a favor and keep you ****ing mouths shut!!! Savvy?

Oh, and another thing, Senator: "I was trying to handle this matter myself quickly and expeditiously." Trying to avoid a little unwanted publicity, Senator? Now that the cat's out of the bag, you wished you'd opted for "due process?"
