Big Source of Clinton Cash is Unlikely address
DALY CITY, Calif. -- One of the biggest sources of political donations to Hillary Rodham Clinton is a tiny, lime-green bungalow that lies under the flight path from San Francisco International Airport.

Six members of the Paw family, each listing the house at 41 Shelbourne Ave. as their residence, have donated a combined $45,000 to the Democratic senator from New York since 2005, for her presidential campaign, her Senate re-election last year and her political action committee. In all, the six Paws have donated a total of $200,000 to Democratic candidates since 2005, election records show.

That total ranks the house with residences in Greenwich, Conn., and Manhattan's Upper East Side among the top addresses to donate to the Democratic presidential front-runner over the past two years, according to an analysis by The Wall Street Journal of donations listed with the Federal Election Commission.

It isn't obvious how the Paw family is able to afford such political largess. Records show they own a gift shop and live in a 1,280-square-foot house that they recently refinanced for $270,000. William Paw, the 64-year-old head of the household, is a mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service who earns about $49,000 a year, according to a union representative. Alice Paw, also 64, is a homemaker. The couple's grown children have jobs ranging from account manager at a software company to "attendance liaison" at a local public high school. One is listed on campaign records as an executive at a mutual fund

2. A former Republican staffer I know is laughing about this money . . .
Hillary or her staff better fix this now.

Oh, wait . . . never mind. Just let it grow legs like Larry Craig's hand gestures under the stall wall at the Minneapolis airport.

21. Thank you for your concern.
Ask the "former Republican staffer" how many Republican party members he sees doing hard time for their criminal activities, both sexual and financial.

6. I see the journal also introduced the following implied racism in the article:
Edited on Tue Aug-28-07 05:56 PM by still_one
"William and Alice Paw are of Chinese descent. "

What the hell does their ethnic background have to do with illegal activity, unless they are trying to imply that by the Paw's being Chinese, somehow relates that the Chinese government is backing Clinton

This is a hit piece, maybe valid, but definitely with racial overtones, and subtle implications that they want to infer, without proof

Incidently, I am NOT a Hillary fan, but this is a definite hit piece

18. The Asians in my area work like dogs, save every dime,
and pay in cash for their HOUSES. The money isn't shocking to me.

What's shocking is an Asian family that's so aggressively for a Democrat. Makes me feel hopeful.

10. They brought the ethnic background in for a specific reason
that reason was to make an absurd sterotype that the "Chinese" are taking trying to elect Hillary, and of course we realize from Lou Dobbs, they also want our jobs

Are those donation questionable too?

Yeah look at the house, No one with a house like that could possibly donate money.

Committee for a Dem majority in addition to thousands sent to candidates like Shcumer, Kennedy & Kerry.

This is a hit piece by the WSJ on Democrats and campaign funding and DUers swallow it because they focus on Hillary.

15. Except the FEC isn't investigating. This is a hit piece by the WSJ.
One apparently you Obama supporters have no problem spreading it.

Just one question, is it ok that the Hope Fund accepted $7000 from two members of the Paw family over the last couple of years or is that tainted money too?

19. It may well be now. Kent Cooper, former FEC official, There are red lights all over this one."
Kent Cooper, a former disclosure official with the Federal Election Commission, said the two-year pattern of donations justifies a probe of possible violations of campaign-finance law, which forbid one person from reimbursing another to make contributions.

"There are red lights all over this one," Mr. Cooper said.

Though I wouldn't doubt that Bush's FEC is dirt digging on all of our candidates.

26. Mediamatters has just debunked this Bull**** story
Edited on Tue Aug-28-07 07:01 PM by antiimperialist
The Paw's sons have very good jobs, and the WSJ has gathered no evidence of anything illegal, or that the Paw family cannot afford the payments they made to Clinton:

http://mediamatters.org/items/200708280016?f=h_latest

and

http://mediamatters.org/items/200708280010?f=h_latest

Did you all forget that it was the WSJ that wouldn't shut up about the Whitewater "scandal" that found the Clintons to have done NOTHING wrong? Did you forget the WSJ suggested the Clintons killed Vincent Foster?
This all has surfaced just after two polls, Rasmussen and Survey USA, show Clinton defeating Rudy Giuliani in key states, including surprisingly, Kentucky and Virginia.

27. Hsu's Lawyer Responds to WSJ's Smear Attempt on Hillary and Her Contributors (Talkleft)
Tue Aug 28, 2007

The Wall St. Journal has me seriously rethinking my subscription. Check out this article by Brody Mullins and its baseless attempt to smear Hillary Clinton's Asian contributors.

Shorter version: An American family of Chinese descent in San Francisco, the Paws, contributed to Hillary around the same time as one of her big contributors, Norman Hsu, who now lives in New York.

Not only is there nothing wrong with that as big fund-raisers often ask people to make contributions around the same time they are contributing, but the Journal admits:

There is no public record or indication Mr. Hsu reimbursed the Paw family for their political contributions. (my emphasis.)
