I find it interesting: Vitter vs. Craig |
|
There was hardly a peep from the GOP when it was revealed that David Vitters was cohorting with a prostitute and possibly expressing a diaper fetish. In fact when the Senate returned to DC soon after this revelation, the GOP had a dinner where they praised all things Vitter.
On the other hand here's Larry Craig who may or may not have solicited gay sex in a Minnesota restroom. And yet there are GOP ready to hang him out to dry for ethics violations.
One might say the difference could be that Vitter's straight sex is more tolerable than Craig's gay sex in a party where all things homosexual are not welcomed.
Or perhaps it's more than sex - perhaps it's the fact that Idaho has a republican governor who can replace the senate seat with another republican whereas Louisiana has a democrat governor and Vitters would probably be replaced with a democrat
hmmmm....

or maybe it's the fact that the DC madam might have more of the Senate in her book waiting to be revealed?

2. There's also the matter of an actual conviction of a crime |
|
Vitter didn't get caught by the legal system the same way.

Craig has plead guilty... so perhaps is not the word... plead guilty... see this is a fact.. plead guilty
As to the difference, you are onto something, but let me add something else... this is a drip, drip, drip effect
If all these scandals happened at the same time... done, move on. they are not
And I cannot wait for the next scandal

4. Its definitely the last one. |
|
While the diaper fetish thing is quite possibly the creepiest thing I've ever heard of, it's a matter of gaining / losing senate seats. With Idaho, it's pretty much a given. But with Louisiana, the scales would definitely be tipped.
