Now the Personal Lives of Republicans is Off-Limits |
|
So, now according to the Republicans, the personal lives of politicans are off-limits. This morning on, the Today Show, Tucker Carlson said that he did not see any reason the Idaho Statesman should have looked into who Senator Craig wanted to sleep with. It is funny that Carlson feels this way in that he did not seem to feel the same way when the newspapers were going after Bill Clinton's personal life, even though many of those newspapers, unlike the Idaho Statesmen, never waited to see if their stories were correct. It is also interesting that Carlson never seemed to have a problem with the private lives of other Democrats being looked into.
I am; however, happy that Lawrence O'Donnell pointed out that Craig was not the first politican to have his personal life looked into. O' Donnell noted that Gary Hart also had the same thing happen to him. However, at that point Matt Lauer tried to cover for the Republican by saying that the newspapers only did that after Hart had challenged the newspapers. So, it seems to me that what Lauer was saying was that it is okay to look into your personal life if challenge the media, but it is not okay if you do not come out and challenge the media. It was as if Lauer was trying to say that what the media did in the Hart case was different from what the media did in the Craig case.
Lauer later tried again to give some cover to the Republican by saying that the media may at times go to far in lumping all Republican together due to the actions of one Republican. Lauer tried to say the media does not do the same with Democrats or at least not as much as with Republicans. That is just so far off. The media has always tried to lump all Democrats together in one group. If the media is in any way lumping Republicans together in a group it is because of the actions of a number of Republicans. Just this year the people have seen a number of Republican caught in the act behaving badly. However, the actions of this year are not the only instances. For years Republican have been getting caught in the act behaving badly, yet the media never talked about it or did not make a big deal about it. I guess this year so much happened that the media just could not ignore everything that happened.

1. Matt Lauer is full of shit! |
|
Gary Hart did not just come out and challenge the press to look into is personal life. The press were already making public allegations about Hart's personal life. Hart was merely responding to those stories.

3. When a person has a long history of anti-gay voting and so-called "family |

values," I believe their personal adulterous homosexual behavior is certainly up for discussion.

better on some stuff. This morning George Stephanopoulos was pretty good on the Craig stuff and Cokey Roberts was barely tolerable. But then Claire Shipman doing the news reported on the "affectionate" good bye post it notes and teddy bears saran wrapped to Rove's car and I got mad all over again...then turned the damn thing off to come here.

8. Lauer actually said that the media doesn't lump all Democrats together? |
|
The tool was obviously babbling. Why, then, does every Democrat have to answer for whatever Al Sharpton says, or Michael Moore films, or Sean Penn says? And if the Democrat doesn't show high dudgeon sufficient for the likes of the media personalities, they are all . . . lumped together in whatever hare-brained position extrapolation the personality can make.
Matt, Matt, Matt. You're so glib.
